Hey there fellow poker players,
I recently won a seat into the WSOP Main Event this year, and I am looking for the best way to study and brush up my skills before the tournament. This is by far the biggest buy in I have played, and really know what to expect. Any advice from fellow members that have played the main event would be great. I am kind of nervous but ready to work hard on my game before July 8th comes. I want to just be prepared the best I can in the time frame that I have. This is a dream come true, and I am looking forward to being able to play among some of the greatest poker players on the planet. I would love to hear what everyone thinks I should be working on for the early stages, middle stages, and late stages of the Main Event. Thanks for reading!

Hey Jory,
Before the superstars tell you the real important stuff let me say a few things. HAVE FUN !!! There’s nothing like the Main Event. This is the best poker tourney in the world with the BEST structure. You have LOTS of chips and LOTS of time. Your goal is to survive day 1, don’t feel like you have to go all crazy no matter what is going on at your time. Play position, play solid, play tight, feel your table out and take advantage if you can. Don’t go all crazy in level one with AK. If you recognize PROS or think someone is a pro or someone at the table is talking trash, fuck’em. DON”T get into an EGO battle unless you have to nuts. Did I mention that the level are 2 hours long. If you want to sit around and wait for AA KK QQ JJ TT, you kinda can, lol. At least day 1. Folding is not a bad option at times. I’ve been lucky to play in the last 5 Mains. You can go from an easy table like I did my first few years to a table with PROS all on my left last year. And of course hope you run like Mercier or Joe McKeehan.
GLGL & remember to enjoy the experience no matter what……….
PS- I should trademark this next comment, but here’s how I feel about multiple day tourneys. Your #1 goal is to bag at least 1 chip for 7 days. Then you’re in the Final 9 and a millionaire. Again, being 1st in chips every night doesn’t get you extra chips or money. Just bag every night for 7 straight and you will be pretty happy..
Just my thoughts.

You will enjoy yourself. You may be a bit nervous at first. Just take a deep breathe and play tight, smart position poker till you see how your table is playing. Be friendly and enjoy the experience with everyone. Remember, someone may ask if this is your first time and more. You are playing for LOTS of money, so people will be nice, but ruthless to take your chips as well. Slow & steady my friend ………………
