Just curious about cashing out during a tourny.  right now I have almost 25k in a $5 cashout on FT.  If I cashout now I am garaunteed 15th place money.  I am obv. playing/running good so a FT is a def. possibilty.  I also know that anything can happen and I can be out in less than 3 hands.  I have already cashed out earlier when I had 200bbs at 50/100 so I am already freerolling it.  What are some things you take into consideration in these type of tournys?

15th place money in this tourney is def not worth cashing out(or worth the money from the cashout). In these tournaments they automatically give a cash % of your chips when u reach the ft. So this is the most important time in the tourny cause essentially every blind is worth cash! Try and find a spot where u can three bet shove until u have over 30 bb's then research the bigdog opening late in tourny's( open alot of pots and c-bet) taking advantage of guys who just wanna make a money jump. The final two tables in a cashout tourny are def the key spot in the tourny, If u made it this far your gonna wanna go for the win. If u wanna play mtt's you have to be winning them and not just placing. I think cashing out the original tourney buy in is awesome and this should offset your timidness should you not make the ft. Hope i could b of assistence. tpe crushing the online world! ttys

Don't ever cash out. Play to win and get part of that pool if you make the Final Table.

grunched most of this, but don't ever cash out.  just consider it to be a really steep payscale and play to win.

Ya the most optimal way to play a cashout tourney is to not cash out…..The FT bubble is going to be a lot bigger then a normal tourney cause the cashout prize pool gets distributed then so cashout tourneys favor the better players who are able to take advantage of FT bubble and give themselves a chance at a much higher payday then the normal buyin for that level of tourney since so much more of the prizepool is distributed to final table based on stacks.

what about cashing in part of your stack early?  I had 200bbs at 50/100 when the next biggest stack only had 50bbs.  I cashed enough in to “freeroll” the rest of the way.  It left me with 130bbs and still a commanding chip lead at the table.

I still don't recommend it.  I just can't imagine it being worth it.  I remember seeing someone work out the math involved  and I don't think it's really ever +ev to cash out.  Basically your starting stack becomes worth 1/2 the buy-in immediately.  Sure you can cash out for a profit, but you're costing yourself a ton of equity by removing yourself from the tournament/taking chips away from your stack.
