guys i dont mean to change tac a bit – but for us non US players who can still play, i cant help but feel like there is some major money to be won in the guarantees? am i right to think this? having a little look around stars tonight it looks like the micro and small MTT are still meeting their guarantees but surely like the sunday mill, super tuesday and sunday 500 etc wont!? problem is – im obv not bankrolled for these and it probably wont matter anyway!
just a thought though
maybe bigdog can play my account on my behalf? lol

Well, nevermind on that. No deposits or withdrawls can be processed until further notice as far as Absolute Poker goes. Do any of the TPE pros have any info about this? I guess this is the end of onlike poker for the US.
No one has any more info than what is out there.
I really think panicing and getting worked up are counterproductive. It's day two. Just take a deep breath and wait to see what happens. It seems obvious to me that for US players at least, our money is safer online than it is in the hands of the 3rd party processors used to make withdrawals, that are based in the US and have a way higher chance of being seized than the offshore accts used to keep player balances.
This is certainly not good, but to say it's the end of online poker in the US is just preemptive and naive. I think there's a far greater chance that this accelerates regulation than it leading to the end of online poker in the US entirely. But again, I really don't want to speculate at this time, and I urge everyone else to do the same.
To non-US players, I don't know about you but I'd be grinding my pants off!

Is it business as usual for other US friendly sites and what sites are pple heading to?
Upon going to sleep last night, it seems like sites on the Merge network were still running. I'd check out Carbon Poker (…..eredge.com) and Lock Poker as possibilities.

I really agree with Hagbard here. I've been following legislation very closely since UIEGA was passed and while i have no inside information (or legal credentials) the signals coming out of the industry were so strong that regulation was coming soon. And it was all being driven by the traditional brick and mortar casinos finally waking up to realize that online poker can benefit their business rather than detract from it.
Now with PS/FTP crippled i think they are in an even BETTER position since they don't have to partner with them to avoid competiting. A giant Multi-Billion dollar market was completely raized for them and they will be pushing fast to get this passed so that they can take advantage of it.
TPE has been rooting for legislation because we think it will help our own business and so while this short term hit is not welcome, we think it will lead to better days for poker players and for our business. In the meantime we will continue to serve those of you who can play with our high quality content and we will be working on ideas for those of you who will be working on sharpening our games (like I will be) for the day the fishies come from the massive Harrahs/Wynn/etc oceans.
I think this is probably the fairest summary yet of the events that have happened thus far. All the speculation floating around right now is so useless considering that this case is in unchartered water without precedence and how much authority the US Gov't has is unclear:
Last week I tried to cash out a cheque in US dollars from Pokerstars, and they won't let me.. they said that they had some trouble with the cheque's issuers, and that non US citizens could not withdraw in US dollars anymore.. so I could only withdraw in Euros… I did cash out succesfully but I sensed that something akwarkd was coming..
From a law enforcement view, the fed gov had enough to bring a good indictment. They wouldn't have done it unless they felt strong about the case. With that said, I also think it pushes things forward. Way too much money for the Gov to cash in on. I think this gives them a slight edge on how to handle it now. Wait and see how this is handled. Should be interesting.

Also, I have been and will continue to play on Lock Poker, and perhaps on the Cake Network as well. I can't speak at all to their cashouts, but the games are running and very good and they are not named in the indictments.
Cake and Locke are still U.S? I was thinking about signing up.

If you do signup at one of the other sites you can get rakeback through us. I actually just signed up for Carbon Poker with 35% rakeback through our program.

That is good news will be signing up tomorrow! I was worried I would be the first to post a Zynga hand for review because I have to play. Hopefully since the choices thinned it will isolate the fish to one of the smaller sites.

I tried to deposit on Cake using a visa prepaid card and the transaction was declined. Customer support told me it's not always immediatley clear to them what the reason may be. They told me to try another card.
After going to the cards website, I found some info that said overseas internet transactions may be declined. Does anyone know which prepaid cards def work on Carbon?
And most of the payment processors don't even accept US transactions. Man, this really sucks.

if you want to play Cake, i can get you money on Broadway Tables (a Cake skin), and possibly a really good rakeback deal. a friend of mine works for BT, i'll just ask him if he can hook it up.
I would apptreciate it Charlie. If you want to give him my email address, it's mmfitter@gmail.com.

This has been a monumental couple of days for online poker and whilst I agree that we need to take a timeout and wait for the dust to settle, it is easier for me to agree with this since I am a non-US player. For my US friends who live here in Thailand and rely on poker for their living expenses, it was like the sky had fallen in for them yesterday.
On a slightly selfish note, I was wondering what short-term impact this will have on TPE, with the Pros not being able to record their usual sessions etc…
For those thinking of signing up with Carbon through the TPE rakeback programme, I did it a few months back and am very happy with the site and the rakeback. Not the variety of tourneys compared to PS/FTP but still good

Big Dog is Canadian and can make good videos on all kinds of sites. And don't worry about the other training sites, as I hear some of the coaches are making new play money vids.
+1 to this. Don't worry about the vids, we'll make sure they keep coming. That's our job and our promise to you. We have enough options and will explore play outside the US as well.

Yah Benny… Could ya just see Big Dog heading down to Westies on Wednesday night to play the Westies Deepstack Freeroll… JK
In all seriousness tho these moves taken by the FBI could have wider implications in countries like Australia, we have several politicians here who do hold some serious power that would use any excuse to reduce our access to online poker and gambling as whole… Mr X and Wilkie are both strongly oposed to poker machines and would be likely to push legislation to curb the level of online gambling given half a chance.

agree with that. but at the same time, online sports betting is massive down here, and is regulated. as a result there is basically blanket advertising on our sports events. so if the US go down the path of regulation i can see that happening in australia too.
great blog post by Poker Stars Team Online member Foucault (RonFezBuddy's mentor):
Black Friday: My (Non-)Thoughts
I want to begin with appreciation and an apology. I’m flattered that
so many people have been eager to hear my thoughts on the recent events
that rocked the online poker world, and I’m sorry that this post is
going to disappoint you.
The truth is that I don’t know what to think and at this point I
don’t want to speculate. Unfortunately my relationship with PokerStars
doesn’t give me access to any inside information, so I’m as clueless as
anyone about what’s going on and what will happen next. I do think the
situation will get clearer soon, though I don’t know how soon.
I know that for some of you this is an apocalyptic moment, and I wish
that I could be of more help. The best I can do is point you to the
best advice I’ve come across for dealing with the present situation,
which comes from Jared Tendler:
“It’s hard to know what this means, but I do think it’s
important to avoid speculating or get caught up listening to others who
are doing it. Stay tuned into facts, listen to credible people, and do
what you think is best. It’s easy to think only of the absolute worst
case, and on one level it can be smart to prepare for that possibility,
it also many not be the most helpful when ultimately figuring out what
you need to do. Try to brainstorm some options so you’re prepared to
make decisions as more information becomes certain and avoid making
premature definitive conclusions.”…
“Right now you’re looking for answers. The problem is that some of
you are so desperate for answers you’ll listen to almost anything or
anyone. That desperation is very similar to feeling desperate to win.
You’ll do almost anything to shake this feeling because the uncertainty
is almost too much to handle. The reality is that there aren’t many answers out there right now. If
you try to force an answer too soon, you’ll be making the same mistake
if you were forcing the action because you need to win money right
now. You have to stick to a sound and logical strategy.”
Jared has a lot more to say on the subject, and he’s made a free
excerpt from his new book available, so I encourage you to read the
whole post if you’re feeling anxious right now.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who has expressed concern for my
situation. It’s very touching to hear from you, but the truth is that
I’ll be fine no matter what happens. I’ve got plenty of money saved up
and actually enjoyed having a free weekend for once.
Despite my silence the last few days, I do intend to keep blogging.
I’ve got plenty of poker-related stuff in the hopper, but you’ll
probably see an increase in the number of stories, musings, and
low-poker-content posts. I get the sense that some of you would enjoy
that anyway. I know I will.

Hi everyone i have been a member for a while on here great vids and learned so much!!
Does anyone no what is going on with FTP for UK players i could not run the update on one computer kept saying could not download also have tried downloading software from ftp site (on different computer) which let me log in with old password however only play money tables and my real money funds have gone?
Since people seem to continue to be generally panicked – or confused, or “in the dark” – about the repercussions surrounding the indictments, I'll repost this video. Please watch and listen to the exchange, particularly the segment abut the illegality of the feds' acts as they pertian to our accounts.

I'm a uk player and I had problems updating files once this all kicked off. I just re installed the client and it was fine. Works fine for me now not sure why yours wouldn't be. I think an email to support may be in order
Did you try this: …..tilt.co.uk

No offense to you at all, but that video is just rubbish as far as I can tell. First of all, nobody has any idea how much money has been taken or from where. So to act as though it's a fact that players are having funds seized is outrageous, and as you can see here they don't care about that as much as just staging an argument about the legality/morality of online poker (FWIW It is pretty awesome that the host berated and humiliated that asshat saying that it needed to be stopped).
Read the indictment. The feds have “issued an order restraining approx. 76 bank accounts in 14 countries containing the proceeds of the charged offenses.” Stars has already come out to say that player balances are kept in accounts separate from the site's money. And even if they weren't, it's not as though we have any idea what accounts have been seized. Many of these banks lie outside the US, where the feds may or may not be able to actually do anything.
You are starting to hear stories about withdraws going through to non-US players, which is a good sign. Obviously the sites are not prepared to process 30,000 transfers all placed within 2 hours of each other under those conditions. The main question is when and how are they going to be able to return money to US players. And that is a big question, but not one that anyone can really answer right now.
