$1 Rush tourney so no reads. Im very wary in these spots since its a limped pot. what would you do? would you ever just fold here with 2 pair facing this action?

One thing about rush tourneys, until tou build some stats of players you are going to have to assume a basic type of player which at these levels i would say is the “my cards only” focused player. S any Ax is in both bettor and 3bettor ranges, also draws, and trips as well as top two.

I am going all the way here, you will double up most of the time. Sometimes triple up (limited stack sizes apply) and a few times be out and fire up the next one.

Rule of thumb a this level early when plenty of fish are still in it: better than top pair top kicker, is a super plus ev play

I hope this doesnt come back to haunt me whenyou move up 🙂

one thing i noticed about these rush tourneys is that theyre super agro. i mean maniacal. The initial weak 100 chip bet doesn't scare me as its usually a draw or some small pair wanting a cheap turn card.

But when the button raises so small it sets of my spidey senses, they usually never do that unless they REALLY like their hand. A flush draw may just call or raise bigger for more fold equity, and top pair may also do the same to see a cheap turn or scare off the flush draws

for that reason i dont like shipping it here since he loves his hand. if he shoves then i call quickly since he's usually a lot weaker.

You have to get it in here imo.

What are you putting them on? I Believe you have the best hand right here.

My question is why you didnt raise on the flop? What was your plan by checking?

My plan was to checkraise to put any draws to the test, leading is fine but with the ace out there I can usually get all the money in here by check/shoving, whereas leading out fails since they usually flat.

But since I’m facing multi action I have to reevaluate. My range for villain 1 is straight and flush draws, an the occasional Jx hand. The second villain is telling me I’m beat. He has sets and two pair here so often with this bet. I’m not putting him on many Ax here at all, why would he bet that much with AT for example? Also I don’t think he’s drawing either.

I can’t see the value in shipping it here If I think I’m beat so often. I can’t just fold to the 300 though can I? That would be crazy nitty at this stakes?

Bet bet bet…… I understand the hesitation in a limped pot….but you are likely way ahead because there are only 2 more aces out there. Also, your chances of gettting counterfeited are minimal. He could limp AJ or 88, but again there are only (2) 8's out there.  You are losing to such a small range of hands….find a way to get it in..

It's not like you're the BB with 37o and flopped bottom 2 that can easily be counterfeited…

What set could they have? You have an A and 8 so those sets are very unlikely. I really think they are raising JJ preflop. So I dont really put any sets in their range. Maybe AJ, but then again how many people are limping AJ?

True, I am losing to a very narrow range of hands here. But his bet is representing a very narrow range. What one pair hand or draw plays like this? This is rush, if he had a medium strength hand he’s usually looking to get it in, not milk the pot.

With that in mind, give me a range of what you think he does this with?

I’m never folding here, especially at this stake. Just ’cause button’s raise is smaller it doesn’t mean strength. It’s still early in the tourney, and I see a lot of pressure throughout the tournament in these rushes from late position. He can do this with his air that’s suited connectors he limped with and the worse case in that situation is he has T9dd. I think I like calling to see what happrns, but seems like some people may think that’s giving up too much value?

I'm probably raising here. Since this is a rush tournament there is no metagame. So, I figure the button is just trying to take an “orphan pot” since nobody else seemed interested in it with the two checks. Personally I would have just bet out on the flop. I find that it is better not to get tricky in low limit tourneys.

p.s. This is the FIRST time I have given my opinion in a hand. I usually just read and never put my two cents in so if I am way off base I would appreciate feedback !

This is a pretty easy raise call for me. There is lots of draws out there the other 2 could be betting and there are lots of hands they are betting that your hand beats. I would confidently raise and call a shove if your beat its just ul.

I agree with Bigdog.  If we are a little big shallower I might even say shove to make it look like we have the draw and could even get called by just the J.

Maybe I give people too much credit then, just lucky on this occasion, or a good bad read.

After I flat I’m pretty much giving up on that turn card since all the draws hit. Called for FH value 15/1 odds.
