hey all,
no reads on v
just wondering what your raise sizing would be on the flop?

Hey FAPY, meant to answer this one a while back but I guess my ADD took the wheel.
If I’m reading the hand right, you’re roughly 110bb effective with GiveMe and nearly 140 bb effective with Notion. The flop SPR prior to any bets is quite high at 13 and 15.7, respectively. I’ll arbitrarily treat the flop decision as if the SPR were 14, as we don’t yet know which villain is more likely to continue.
I’ll start by saying that I absolutely want to raise this hand 100/100 times. Villains’ are much more likely to play a large pot with less than a flush if you start building the pot now. In a heads up pot there are flops (especially at much shallower SPRs) where I will at least consider slowplaying flushes, but I still think we want to raise the vast majority of the time unless we are exploiting an over-aggressive player.
After a large bet gets called, you don’t necessarily need to make a large raise, but you have a lot of incentive to turn this hand into a 2-street game. By that I mean you’d love to size your flop raise in a way that sets up turn shoves. That is going to be difficult at this stack depth, but we can still overbet the turn or play this as a 3-street hand. Ideally, we can find a flop size that is likely to be called by 2 pair+, Qs + pair, and most As combos.
A pot-sized raise would be: 2400 + (3 * 2400) + 3450 = 13050. If called by one player, the turn pot would be 31950, creating an SPR of almost exactly 1 with GiveMe or 1.3 with Notion. Shoving a non-spade (and maybe non-board-pairing but that’s closer) turn would then be perfectly reasonable against either player, and the polarizing nature of using such large bets can get called by weaker hands than you might expect.
A half-pot raise would be: 2400 + 0.5 * [ (3 * 2400) + 3450 ] = 7725. If called by one player, the turn pot would be 21300, creating an SPR of 1.75 with GiveMe or 2.2 with Notion. I don’t think we want to shove turn at those depths so, on a clean turn, I would probably bet 9k – 10k. Betting 10k sets up a river SPR of 0.67 with GiveMe or 0.88 with Notion.
Both of those approaches have pros and cons but I think anywhere between the two could be viable, and if I were to go outside that range it would be > pot.
