This is my first post and im fairly new to the mtt world so be patient please. We are in the final 20 ish people of a small buy in tournament when this hand occurs. Both in the top 10 of chips. I didnt have many reads on the opponent other than his stats. I would appreciate peoples opinions on this as to what they would have done given this scenario.

I'm not sure I read it correctly. Does the villain limp-call then just shove flop?
In my experience of micro stakes cash games, villain could have 2 pair here – AJ, KJ or maybe even a stragiht with QT. I think he puts you on an Ace as you raised him pre, then just shoves hoping you call with AQ or AT?
This is “very bad player – micro stakes mentality” but I've seen players play big hands this way alot. In the micros, some players either massively slow play 3 streets to check raise the first sign of strength and others do the opposite – make ridiculous value bets that only get called by better. This is obviously all terrible but I played 150,000 hands of 10nl/25nl in past 4 months and I've seen some horrific play recently.
IMO you can only beat a misclick, I don't think he ever plays AQ this way.

FWIW, the people who limp pre are also the same people who bet ridiculously big for value or slowplay to the last moment to c/r first sign of strength – He could even have KK or JJ imo. I think he would slowplay top set here though, I think the key point is that he puts you on an Ace and shoves thinking you won't fold

Hi guys thanks for all your thoughts i didnt have a clue at the time what he could be doing this with but i have seen it done a couple of other times since at micros. To put you all out of your misery you were right in predicting the strength he had AK which i would never of put him on just limp/calling pre and then to just jam. But i jst didnt think i could ever fold that against a player such as this
