First ever HH post. Early in $11 Stars, KJ in EP think I played this abysmally.

How bad was this? Would really welcome some tough love with this hand.

I would fold pre readless, KJ doesn’t do particularly well against utg opening ranges. However if villain is not positionally aware preflop, which is not unusual at these stakes, then I think I likely call. I think flop and turn are fine. I’m not sure what the river bet achieves, the only hands I can see us getting value from are AK and KQ and villain cant have them that often with the K blockers in our hand and on the board. I think its a pretty clear check on the river.

Folding pre makes the most sense, but adding this hand to my 3-bet range can help keep it balanced. (I would fold to a 4-bet.)

Disagree. I’d say it will make your 3-bet range unbalanced towards weak hands. What would you say your 3b range looks like in this spot?

The only situation i would call pre is if i know the v well enough to be sure he is spewy and opens absolute garbage , poss even 3bet him small but alot of times the spewy guys click you back so unless your confident post flop just fold pre.

Calling range here IMO should be pairs for setmining if you got fish at the table , AK AQs

Even TT/JJ/AQ seem a bit thin to me, but against looser openers or in looser games generally I can see it being good.

Good responses. Looks like I’m clearly 3-betting too widely if I need KJs to balance. It feels like people 3-bet all the time, but that’s got to be confirmation bias.
