So I found this hand and I was hoping to get some tpe insight. pretty interesting in that i don't think i ever flat this 3b and the whole hh relies on it. if your opening a merged range like this when you're not actually that deep, you set yourself up to be 3b for value very easily, and if you're calling, youre just making a big pot preflop where you're behind and out of position. it all seems like a recipe ripe with errors, but i wanted to know what you guys think.

BB is TPE coach Marc Alioto. A few hands ago he 3b my open from his SB, i peeled and folded flop. Other than that we haven't really been involved with each other.

Hero (UTG): 32.69 BB
MP: 21.4 BB
CO: 105.9 BB
BTN: 8.6 BB
SB: 66.42 BB
BB: 30.49 BB

6 players post ante of 0.1 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.1 BB) Hero has J T

Hero raises to 2 BBfoldCO raises to 5.56 BBfoldfoldfoldHero calls 3.56 BB
I'm opening this hand most of the time here and feel that I'm deep enough and getting a good enough price to peel to 3bet, should maybe just fold oop tho

Flop: (13.22 BB, 2 players) 7 3 7
Hero checks, CO checks

Turn: (13.22 BB, 2 players) 4
Hero bets 4.67 BB, CO calls 4.67 BB
I do think he gives up sometimes here as I have more middling pocket pairs in my range that I'm valuebetting than he does, but in retrospect I think this is a check

River: (22.56 BB, 2 players) J
Hero checks, CO bets 22.56 BB

I want opinions on all streets cause I don't feel awesome about anything that I did. AP I was going to c/c river but felt I should fold to that sizing. Have at it”

Possible value hands he is shoving:
KhQh, Kh10h, AhKh, Ah10h
JJ
33
44
56

His hands with showdown, he checks back the river.
55
66
88
99
10 10

He could be getting tricky with AA, KK, QQ or trying to get a worse J to call him if he has AJ.

I can’t think of any hands that he would have on the river that missed…but then again, I don’t get the shove. It’s so polarized. It seems like a value shove, but maybe he is trying to get you to fold the middle of your range. I think it’s an easy fold.

Dont relaly hate it up to river.  I prob go bigger on turn if I am stabbing, but thats fine.

On river I bet/fold all day.  The average person is just not raising over a bet ehre as a bluff so we can bet like 11-12B and be happy.  We would have like 10 BBs left, which isnt great obviously but fine.  He will also be checking back a lot of hands that we can get value from.  And if we are betting turn a d cehcking river when we hit, we are not really going to be making money on turn.

Another thing worth noting is what the above poster subfocused said, in that I dont see many bluffs he can have.  If this was a backdoor ehart heart I would be worried about a flush, but given his stack he is playing for all your chips if he flops a flush draw on flop and will be betting a vast majority of the time.

As played I am lost on river.  I want to say F it and call.  But its a marginal spot that isnt necessary. I think I fold and just try to find a better spot and ladder a little.  Sucks.  I dont really know what hes repping, but I just cant see calling that.  Especially when you should theoretically be bluff catching pretty wide after checking river.  If he bet <15 BB i call.

Open is fine, never flatting the 3b though. You have to flop really well to stack it off happily. Besides that I think hero shouldn't have a 3b flat range in this particular spot because it's way to capped.

About the turn never betting obviously you rep nothing, you only have one pocketpair in your 3b flat range. And villain isn't going to fold Ax etc because he has a blocker for your only value hand.

Think villain will cbet his fd's OTF, so I am absolutely bet/folding river.

Think I agree with CCuster here. I think open is fine, flat the 3bet is probably okay vs a weakish villain, and stab turn is probably okay too since most villains have AK/AQ here almost always when they check back those flops. I would stab bigger though, if he has AK/AQ here a lot then I don't see him folding to one small bet.

On river, yuck. I probably bet/fold here since it doesn't change the board much and he could hero with ace high, but I also feel like when he shoves this river I don't really know what he's repping. He could have AJ I suppose? It's a weird one. I think I check/fold and look for a better spot, but I prefer bet/folding.

I like flatting the 3bet preflop, and I like checking the flop.  Every hand he has is going to float you there, so I would check too.  On the turn you bet 1/3 pot … I agree with everyone above and I think I would go closer to 2/5 pot.

The river gives you some showdown value.  I think I would do a little blocking bet here, maybe a 1/3 – 2/5 pot bet.  If he shoves then I think you have to fold, but you would have about 12bb left to play.

As played, I keep flip flopping in my mind as to calling or folding this river.  A part of me says that it feels like a bluff from a big stack that is trying to establish himself as the table captain.  Then another voice comes in and says that he 3bet you with like QheartTheart and got lucky on the river.

After taking about 40 minutes to write this, I think I would call here.  From his position, I think it looks like you have high cards w/ no pair, and it looks like you do not have a flush.  I would call.  If you're wrong, you're out and you made 1k.  If you're right, then you really give yourself a chance to win this thing w/ 65+bb.
