Hello, I am new on this forum and this is gonna be my first post.

I played a 50$ tournament (49 entries) and we were 7 players left (all in the money). I played very tight until this moment (13 VPiP) and this was also one of the reason why I decided to open this hand. Secondly, Vilain, who was in the BB, was a weak player.

I would be interested to know what you would have done in my position.

Personally I dont really regret my river-fold but I maybe should have raise his donk bet on the flop and/or bet more on the turn.

Thank you for your comments.

hi,

welcome to the forum.

i think preflop being so deep this is an easy open. good hand and a weak opponent in the BB makes it really easy.

if he is defending really wide and plays bad postflop i might go bit bigger pre. especially if you are playing tight you should go bigger with your value hands to get more value. but this is just a minor point.

Flop:

1.) what do you want to achieve with a raise here?

2.) what hands do you think villain is donk/calling here? how well are you doing vs these hands?

Turn:

1.) what do you want to achieve with your bet? What bet size does achieves best what you want?

River:

1.) what odds is villain giving us to bluff catch here?

2.) what hands do you think villain is bluffing here? do you find enough combos to justify a call?

some food for thoughts

cheers

Yeah I probably would have folded there too.  I like your sizing the whole way.  Well played.

You should be opening that hand no matter what, even if you haven’t been playing tight.

I think calling the flop is okay, raising is probably a good option if you have any kind of read that villain is a weaker player but generally I think your line until the river is fine.

It’s really ugly on the river and I wouldn’t fault you for calling since JT is reasonably high in your range, but I would be surprised if villain has any hands in their range that would check-call the turn and then bluff the river. Very weird line by villain, but it’s hard to find many hands it’s consistent with except flushes and full houses, so I think the fold is okay.
