Figured I could rep KK+, AK and villain could not. Besides 44, I think he folds any value hand he does this with by the river.
All that said, maybe this is me trying too hard to read ranges and maybe I should just fold the flop. IDK.
Yeah I think you might be looking into this a little too much. He prob just had a set or AK and you ran into it.
I doubt he ever has KK+ and rarely AK, hence the reason for the post. I feel like he must have had 44 or possibly QJ. Maybe even AT trying to see where he’s at on the flop.
I’m just glad I didn’t have AK.
I think my play makes sense against a good GTO type player who can read ranges and has the ability to bluff or lay down a marginal hand in this spot, but probably not against humans who play small stakes online MTTs. This is a common problem I run into from studying higher level poker and then playing small stakes.

At first I thought you three-barreled, which would be OK (careful about doing this at too high a frequency, though, lest the sticky exploit you). Once he raises flop, your range advantage is probably irrelevant, as he should be doing this with a polarized range, and realistically may only have monsters.
