This hand is from the 6pm deepstack at WSOP $185 buy in

V1 (9000) – UTG  – tournament regular. Seems to be fairly competent but made one strange move early, so probably has some tricks up his sleeve

V2 (13000)- MP1 – bit of a calling station Euro guy

V3 (11000)  BB – late registered. Seems to know SB and they joked about his bully image

Blinds 100/200. Hero has 8K and the button

Pre-flop UTG raises 450. MP1 calls Hero has AKo. I often 3-bet in this spot, but since the original raiser was UTG and I was 40 BB deep I preferred to see a flop and use my position rather than face a 4-bet.

BB Raises to 1750. UTG flats. MP1 Flats

Hero?

It seems like the reason you didn't 3-bet pre was that you thought UTG had a strong enough range that you wouldn't feel great about getting it in. To get it in now, you have to assume that BB didn't realize that (which, admittedly, is plausible) and is consequently squeezing far too wide.

Here were my thoughts

– There was a decent chance villain was squeezing too wide.

– If UTG had KK+ he would more likely 4-bet than potentially see a flop 4 ways with bad position

– MP1 had two chances to raise and didn't so his range should be capped as well.

– My original plan was to see a flop cheaply, but now that it's not an option and I have to put in 20% of my stack to se a flop, with AK I'd prefer to see all 5 cards

– If I shove I probably get a most 1 caller with a lot of dead money

So it seemed the best option was to shove all in.

That all makes sense to me. Good shove.
