I usually am too loose to fold here, and I will tell you I lose here probably 90% of the time.

I don’t think this is an easy fold by any means. It might be a fold, but it’s not easy. The key aspect for me is figuring out how many Tx hands he would bet the turn with, because it seems like while he would bet with AT, QT, T7 and maybe KT, a lot of his other Tx hands would already have a pair (JT, T9, T8, TT), and would probably be more likely to check-call instead of betting in a spot where they were unlikely to get called by worse very often.

There are three other variables we need to establish as well – how often does he valuebet worse hands, how often does he have a flush, and how often does he have complete air that he’s bluffing with. It seems to me that the answers are as follows:

1. It’s definitely possible he could play 99 or 88 this way, going for thin value on the river. JJ he might be more likely to 3bet preflop. AQ would be a small possibility, but it’s extremely unlikely given that three Qs are out there already. So the answer is, there are definitely some worse hands he could valuebet here.

2. It’s not going to be often that he has a flush, since three good flush blockers are out there, but there are still plenty of AdXd hands in his range, as well as KJdd, KTdd and JTdd. He could also have some lower flush combos such as 76dd, but the lower we go, the less likely those combos are.

3. There’s very little ‘air’ available on this board. Any two cards higher than a 7 have at least a pair, so he would need to be turning a pair or better into a bluff on the turn and river for this to be any more than a small possibility. That’s probably a good play here with many weak pairs, so the better the player, the more weight we should give to this possibility.

I recommend running this hand through an equity calculator to see if you have the equity you need against his range. Factor in blockers and dead cards, and see what you get. My instinct says it’s probably a call against a lot of ‘loose aggressive’ villains, as long as they’re not so aggressive that they’re betting all their pair+draw hands on the turn.

Oh, and for the record, I would bet the flop. There are tons of pairs and draws you get called by on that flop when you’re up against a big blind range.

just to have a different take than ginger (which was excellent), let's look at what he can put YOU on that he feels you could call a turn with and still fold a river when the draws fill.  Basically AK.  But if he put you on AK, how does he bet the turn?

To me, it looks like a simple player trying to get paid off…

and yes, I would have also bet the flop, repping AK based on PFR.
