Interesting spot. By the rvr the only hand you are really beating is a missed Flush draw, unless he thinks you were chasing a draw. I would expect all weaker As that did not 2 pair would c/c rvr, even AQ and AK might leave room for you to rvr bluff / value yourself.

If he had a set I could see him taking this line because of the flush draw but would expect a larger value bet on rvr for the times you do have a decent A.

His river bet is a little confusing given the previous 2 bets were 60% of pot and the river bet is 35%. This screams either 'pay me, pay me, pay me' or 'I missed but and gonna stab coz you played passive' and not alot inbetween.

As played I think you have to make the call on the rvr for 2 reasons 1) your hand is seriously under repped 2) because of his rvr bet size you only have to be winning here 1/4 times to be profitable.

Dont think I play any street differently, you keep all worst hands in and lose the min when beat. You could make a case for raising turn but only if you have a strong read that he is leading draws or all top pair hands regardless of kicker.

Pretty standard just call down I think. If he had bet bigger on river then I would be more wary about him actually having a set or aces up, and we can make a better case for folding. However I expect him to show up with just an ace here a lot. It can definitely be aq, but there are more aces you beat that you dont. Like turbulance said, you are going to be good here often enough to make the call for sure.

I think this is a fold on the turn. Truly annoying spot but I don't think we are ahead enough of the time to call turn and river.

I think its alot easier to call down if the Ah wasnt out there, as it is i think folding turn is best also.

Interested in your reason(s) for folding turn? what range are you putting villain on?

Duggs – did you call or fold rvr? As I'd be interested to know what villian turned up with taking this tripple barrell donk line – could be useful in future.

Cheers

that most villian wont double barrel worse aces, its going to turn up with slow played AQ and flopped and turned 2 pair with this line imo.

Seems that you were facing a genuine donk then. Analysing his play:-

a) defends with weak A and flops top pair OOP

b) Flop, Leads cos he thinks has best hand and wants to protect against flush draw

c) Turn, not sure about your call so puts you on flush draw and leads again

d) River, really not sure now and a little concerned hopes you have missed draw or under pair but doesnt want to bet big incase you have a better A but is never folding to a reasonable bet with his top pair.

Shitty spot.

I am taking a different line against said villian.

I like a raise on the flop for a few reasons.

1) we narrow his range
2) depending on our sizing, we can price out flush draws.
3) though we “might fold out worse aces”,
We are now controlling the betting and we decide
If we want to check back turn or not.
4) they almost never have a monster when they
Donk lead…especially for 60% pot.
5) and you already know this….he 3bets better aces
Preflop a large % of the time. He is rarely getting to the
Calling turn or river bets with worse than your hand
So why not try and get a “2nd street of value” on
The flop with a raise.

Not saying my line would be optimal all the time..but
playing the pot control game isnt always optimal
Either imo
