Hero is in MP with JcJs.  Blinds are 50 / 100, no ante.  4th round in an online tourney.

Hero (MP) – t2,572 (25bb)

Villian 1 (MP+1) – t3,487 (34bb)

Villian 2 (Button) – t1,190 (11bb)

Hero raises to 250

Villian 1 goes all-in

Villian 2 goes all-in

In this spot, should Hero be calling here?  Villian 1 hasn't been playing all that loose.  Its early in the tournament and really don't want a coin flip situation.  It feels like Hero is behind Villian 1's range.

Always tough with jacks. I think when villain 2 shoves after villain 1 has already shoved folding is probably best. Just showing too much strength and the first dude has you covered. You still have a decent chip stack after folding.

Why don't you want a coin flip? Early in tournaments, we should be taking flips to build our stack from what i understand. Plus, the fact that you have only 25 bb to start the hand makes this an easy call in my book.

I personally don't mind a call at all. Villian 2 is short and is getting it in with just about any pair, A-x. Villian 1 is hardly ever jamming here with QQ+ IMO, missing way to much value blasting the pot like that. As I see it alot of times these 2 players are sharing cards. I think worst case scenario you are racing with Villian 1 and often times have him crushed in this spot.

Villain 2 has 11BB's facing an open and a 3bet jam, he isn't anywhere near as wide as any pair + Ax, IMO.

I agree that Villain 1 will typically be capped when he jams 37BB's.  We are doing very well versus a capped range, so call.

Edit: Tougher spot if Villain 2 has say 20BB's rather than 11, I think this is important here.

Good points. Not sure if this is a rebuy tourney or not. Have to think about this one some more.

How does the saying go – there are 3 ways to play pocket jacks – and they are all wrong.

I still think its real close if this is a freezeout.

Really seems like the second dude needs a premium hand after the shove although he is a bit short stacked and he says first guy has been playing fairly tight.

Do we really think he is doing this with 10s or less? Villain 1 probably on a draw and doesnt' want a call but I think hero is behind villain 2 and probably racing with villain 1.

To complete the hand here…

Hero folds

Villian 1 shows 10's and Villain 2 shows AJo

Villian 1 stays ahead and wins the pot.

So Hero would of won with J's.  I now understand that when a bigger stack pushes all-in preflop in this situation, his range is usually capped.

thanks everyone!
