This hand came very early in the FTOPS event 1.  No reads on Villian, other than he won a big pot in the first hand.  Not sure if this hand is good enough to defend this early considering the stack sizes and lack of read on villian.  Thoughts?

I would defend this hand 100% of the time because it is the kind of hand that flops well and can crack big hands.  Obviously you have to be ready to ditch it if you just flop a pair or whatever and meat a lot of resistance.  but yeah, this deep I would play this hand for sure.

Haha when I first saw the title I thought it was “1 BB spot” 🙂

Yeah KB has got the idea. Calling all day. Hand flops very well and were super deep.

get flopzilla and check how good this hand flops vs 10-15% opening range or any different ranges.

this is one of the best flopping hands. prob only JTs is better. I 1000000000000000000000000% defend with this hand that deep.

cheers

Thanks for the feedback gents.  Tend to play alittle too tight, but I agree and felt like a total nit when I folded this hand.  What kind of ranges are you guys calling with and what ranges are you 3Betting with against an unknown Button raiser?

i dont like 3betting that deep OOP to much for several reasons.

First, you will get flatted a ton and then play OOP. Lets say if you 3bet AdAc and the flop comes 9h8h7d and you get pot size raise on the flop. Not the best spot to be in. I rather flat call most hands and play a smaller pot with a very disguised hand.

If i 3bet i do it with hands that have excellent flopping potential but are not to good to fold to a 4bet. hands liek 97s. I might also 3bet a lot of pocket pairs 22-77 because that deep i can still call a 4bet and stack my opponent most of the time when i hit the set.

As soon as antes kick in and the stacks are shorte i tend to change my 3betting ranges tremendously

cheers
