Final two tables of WSOP Europe Mini Main.

I’m in HJ with AheartAdiamond. CO seems to be a very strong player, played a lot with him and he’s the player I’ve had most respect for out of the whole field. SB is a slightly loose passive Indian player but capable of making moves.

Blinds 60k/120k/120k BB ante. Hero has 8m, CO has 10m, SB has 8m

I open to 250k, both villains call.

Flop (1m) 3diamond3spade2spade. SB and Hero check, CO bets 365k. SB raises to 850k. I 3bet to 2m. CO folds, SB calls

Turn (5.3m) 3heart. I bet 2.2m, SB folds.

What are your thoughts on this line, should I be doing this with any part of my range. Part of my reasoning for checking flop was that I thought that the villains might start attacking my perceived weakness, which turned out to work well but I don’t know if it is actually a good play or not.

I would like checking the flop a lot more if hero has the ace of spades for a BDFD.

I think betting most of the top of your opening (big aces, most pocket pairs) range for value and most flush draws as semibluffs.

Checking some nut flush draws and some big pairs (with a BDFD) should protect your range on future streets.

As I write this I’m wondering if maybe this strategy leaves your checking range too weak… maybe it is better to have a couple more AA combos in there…

I am thinking we might want to check back on the turn.  What does Villain have for a check/raise call?  I can’t see doing that with a PP, so he seems to be heavily weighted to draws.  When we fill up on the turn, he is drawing dead with most of his range, and probably knows it.

Checking back lets Villain bluff all rivers, which he might well do if he is capable of making moves.  Sure, it would be nice to get stacks in, but I don’t think Villain is doing that without 3x.

I was just talking about the flop – that’s what I get for browsing on my phone!

On the turn I think some kind of bet is in order.  I wouldn’t want to give villain a chance to draw for free.

A small bet will let you get value from his draws and PP’s while still giving him room to get frisky on the river.

Kid:  I was more responding to the OP.   I don’t see Villain having anything other than 2 outs, and we have a good bluff catcher if he has some sort of combo draw.
