Lately I have been playing a lot of Double Up Tourneys. $7, $15 and $30.
I am sure everyone is familiar but basically 10 players start, when 5 are eliminated the tournament is over and the remaining players all double up (- rake).
I do well in these, and you can fly through them. You can also multi the heck out of them.

The reason for this post is that I am SURE that I am not playing optimally in this different format. There are some differences with normal MTT theory:
-The ICM scenarios are obviously very different when half of the field cashes for the exact same amount.
-The play when short stacked is also very different. You will almost always see 3 stacks with less than 5 BB with 6 players left at some point during the game.
-Certain MTT accepted theory is also flawed in Double ups like shove/fold scenerios. In regular MTT’s a high % of the prize pool is in the top 3/4 positions, so building stacks is worth the risk of elimination at certain points; as opposed to DU where having 90% of the chips on the table, pays the same amount as having 1% when the 6th player gets eliminated.
-Opening ranges must surely be adjusted in this game but I have only theories about when and how.
-Also defering/yeilding to other large stacks late in the game is different in DU’s.

There is money to be made at these tourneys. I sharkscope when I play the Carbon versions and there is a small percentage of winning players playing them. A very high percentage of losing players make up the majority of the field. (That should be a sign I know, but I am not sure for what, ha)

If anybody in TPE land would like to discuss these tourneys and optimal play for them, please let me know. We can just continue on this thread so lurkers can read as well and the pros can jump in with advise or criticism of theory.

Dunno much about them, so no help from me here. But I know that Marc Alioto used to grind the hell out of them, so would be awesome to hear some ideas about these DONs from him.
