I’m only getting back into playing regular after not playing for about a year.

Not sure how I feel about this spot and I’m interested to hear other comments.

By way of history, villain is new to table and this is his 5th hand. However, we were briefly 7 handed and villain 3b (2.8x) my utg open from the co and double barreled on 742r-K with me folding the turn. Villain did fold with opportunities to open the btn and hj and he is Brazilian.

I have been experimenting (for want of a better word) with donking certain boards with certain holdings, and I thought this could be a good example.

I felt my donking range on the flop could consist of sets(JJ occasionally but unlikely)/two pairs/flush,straight + combo draws/8x/AJ/KJ and weaker jx type hands, and I think they are a few decent turn cards for me to barrel like 6/7/8/9/10/Q/diamond, or am I being to ambitious with some of these cards?

As a baseline assumption for the villain, I expect him to float his Ax/maybe Kx, random gut shots and obviously his Jx hands, and probably not slow play his sets or over pairs, or flush draws on occasions given the flop is pretty wet.

I felt like the turn was a better card for his perceived range and it would be a card he and most people would be betting and representing. I bet small with the intention of jamming over a raise hoping that my range looks really strong and I’m not bothered by the A. Again I’m not sure if this is too ambitious hoping for a villain to fold Ax here? But I feel like my range is pretty strong, but narrow? sets/AJ/A8 and 910s or 67s?

I’m not one for fps, I was looking for an alternate line rather than check calling flop and checking folding turns if I whiff with flush and straight draws

I'm happy to be first to reply since I'm not so sure of my response and would love feedback as well.  Would a check call on the turn for pot control, unless it's a shove, make any sense? Positive I've made this play after leading out to pf raiser w/ similar draws.

if we check call turn, we end up just c/f blank rivers? what do we do when we hit?c/j, c/r, donk again?

Good questions. That's why c/c turn is not a good idea.

I also don't agree with OP that flop is such a great one to donk. AJ/KJ don't benefit that much from donking, nor do sets, which means either that your donking range will be super draw heavy or you'll be playing your stronger made hands in sub-optimal fashion. I'd rather donk weaker draws than this and either c/c or c/r this one.

The difference between c/c flop and c/c turn is that when we c/c flop we retain the option to be aggressive later. We can donk turn, c/r turn, or bluff river if turn checks through. It's much harder to do that after betting flop and c/c turn.
