Hey guys,

This hand is from the $33 $12K on Merge, and really can't decide on what I should have done here. Villain is markdube, if anyone is familiar. Strong reg, etc.

He'd been at the table for about three orbits, during which I'd played three hands.
-3B jammed JJ and got called
-R/f'd once
-Got to showdown in a small pot w/AJo.

He had been pretty active.

My image is pretty tight, plus I’m opening on a big stack’s BB.  I can’t see him thinking I’m light here.  Plus, he’s shipping 20BBs, doesn’t seem like he’d do that too light in the CO.
On the other hand, 99 is so strong, I’d feel like such a little bitch folding.
Thoughts?

Most likely you are flipping with 2 overs here, but 55-88 would def be in his range as well. I think I'm folding 77, 88 is marginal but 99-TT I'm probably calling. If he's got one of the 5 pairs that beats me…so be it. Mind you i'm also trying to be more active and open to taking chances to build a stack in my progression from a TAG player.

seems close, but in the moment I am probably calling.  We are goig to have 20 bbs soon when the blinds go up and I think we need to find a spot to get some chips, this seems like a good one.

now win the flip!

check how many tables he is playing, call it off.

he should be 3b/c the top of his range and 3b/f his airball hands so you do fine v the rest.

I'm shoving here and putting the pressure on them to make the call for their chips, take away their 3bet play.  you'll be under 20 bbs when the increase comes anyways just jam and win the flip when they call 🙂

You started the hand with about 25bbs I think. I am opening there to call off, though I could get away if there was a lot of action perhaps. But to this one jam I am calling and waiting to see him show 88

Villain is a pretty good reg which means his shove range is probably wider. This is a snap call IMO. He's going to be jamming his whole range here as well i think. He's only got 20bb so 3 betting just looks way to strong and might get you to fold hands like aj/aq and 99-jj that you would be calling his shove with. It's going to be a flip a lot, but he can also be shoving as wide as 22-88.
