We all love the delicous buffet that is jamming a 3x villain raise pre in the late stages of a trny. Opening up your stuffage range against these villains has been a great tool to build a stack and it's just so juicy, somtimes a big man like myself can't resist.

Indiviual reads aside, Has it progressed now to where it is profitable to raise 3 x with the top end of your range to induce a bluff jam ?  (or has it already and i am terrible?)

I know it is hard to generalize something that is so read (table and villain) specific, but i would love to hear your thoughts.

First post, let me have it

It's tough to say because everything is very situation/villian dependant… but if I had to comment I'd say 3x is real old school, and it's usually a tell of some sort.  I don't think many people use the 3x to induce action at all.

yeah 3x is old school.  I have noticed some solid regs throwing in the occaisonal 3x lately and it has really confused me.

I have recently looked at this bet size as a weak tell not strong, but i think i may be  giving villains too much credit or it's possible they are exploiting my tendency to stuff in these situations.

Well it depends, at lower stakes I've seen a lot of guys raise 3x or more with the higher end of their range and 2.5x or minraise with the lower end.  It's transparent and easy to pick up on, but you have to know if its this type of player or a guy who just 3xes all the time…. If its the latter then its just like shoving on any minraise, as long as you have been paying attention to the table and the player you can open up your 3bet shoving ranges as you should to maintain a stack or possibly get a big double…

sorry, maybe i am not explaining myself very well.

raising pre 3x is terrible obv.  the question i ask is, should hero use larger bet sizes to induce a jam when you intend to call any push when opening and an aggressive reg is yet to act.

this would probably only work once, but may have huge rewards if successfull
