hey all,
I have no idea what I was doing post flop, but I don’t like it!!!! I was like soooooo scared that V could have 3x anyhow lets break it down…..
otf I believe its close between bet or check, betting is good as u can get value from Kx and some smaller pocket pairs. However checking allows v to also bet Kx and air…there aren’t gunna many scare cards so I don’t think checking is bad here , espically multi way..
as for the turn I think again checking is fine again, v could of bet Kx and maybe even tried to stab at it as a bluff , I guess he could have 3x?
last but not least , when the turn is all checked through, the other v decides to just lead out , I found that odd, I mean if he did have a hand he would of wanted to bet on the turn at the least right? his range looked marginal when he lead out but for some reason I thought he could do this with 3x , since he called the flop bet and tried to slow play turn, though that’s unlikely because he could extract value from Kx , it was all confusing!!! as it is still now lol…..
WHICH LINE DO WE TAKE ON THE RIVER YOOO?
r/c river r/f river or just call river?
thanks for your thoughts 🙂

Looks a little like monsters under the bed. How much 3x is in either players range? I’d guess only A3s, and you block one of those. How much Kx is in their ranges? A lot! And, as you point out, one of them will likely call you with a pocket pair for at least one street.
In short, this looks like a slam dunk flop bet.

I think bet/bet/bet is your best line here. Even if running diamonds came (running clubs would be a bit closer but I’d still probably take the same line). You could check-raise the flop but you’d be making it a lot harder for kings to get all-in by the river.
You can take a couple of different approaches to bet sizing, but since your value targets are almost exclusively kings, I like sizing slightly larger than I usually would on paired boards.
If I’m reading the action right, pot on the flop is ~24k. I think something between 40-50% pot is good. Right in the neighborhood of 11k or so. Against either 1 or 2 callers, I’d be looking to size my turn bet for a shove on the river.
With one caller, something like 33k turn (into a pot of 46k) leaves you 95k behind and 112k in the middle. If the only flop caller was the shorter of the two stacks, they’d only have 72k behind on the turn, so I’d probably aim for a 22-24k turn bet to set up a 50k river shove with 90k in the middle. With two callers, you can size up a bit on the turn but 33-40k would still be good even though the pot will be larger.
Although KT should probably be folding to a turn bet, many players will call once more, and better kings are quite likely to call. On the river, we want villains to feel priced in with their kings (even though they should almost certainly find folds with KQ let alone weaker holdings), giving them a price on our shove which might make them more likely to talk themselves into a hero call.
Of course, we will occasionally get stacked by A3s, but that’s literally one combo and there is way too much value available to worry about that or some random beat like 88 or 43s. We don’t have to be right 100% of the time for our value bets to be extremely profitable.
BTW, I’d be more inclined to check on a flop like 833 or some other low pair/card <=10. Way fewer value targets on that kind of board, and we’re less likely to get 3 streets from low/medium pocket pairs than we are from kings. Betting small (and not looking to play for stacks) might still be preferable to checking, but giving villains a chance to bluff/catch cards/overplay pocket pairs becomes much better with no big cards on the flop.
EDIT: As played, I think I just call the river. The third player will occasionally overcall, and that might be more profitable than raising.
However, now that I think about it, it would be hard for me to give you credit for much of anything if you raised here, so I might just call a bunch of Kx… hmm. I wouldn’t think about it too much as you probably want to play earlier streets differently (ie. you won’t be in this spot).
