I can’t get over it, how can you fold on these hands, because it happens to often on pokerstars that i get out of

tournaments like this. Is there a way the get of those hands or is it just hoping you will win, i read and see a lot

here on TPE, but if you play on pokerstars i doesn’t mather, they deal you AK against AQ, you both get the chips

in and you will lose. If you aren’t a supernova elite or a member with a lifetime achievement symbol you can’t win

on pokerstars.

I love florianm1’s answer 😀

In the interest of answering to the way the hand is played as well, what is your line when you raise his river bet? Were you 100% confident you had the best hand and you wanted to extract value? I am asking this is coz if I flop the nut flush, I will play exactly the way the villain has played here, by checking the flop. And your hand has some showdown value against any kind of 2 pair hands that he has caught on turn or river. (If he caught 2 pair or set on flop, he will surely bet on this wet board…)

I for one would play scared and just call the bet on the river.

A lot of situations will come up where both players are correct to put all their money in. Only one will win, but that doesn’t mean the other made a mistake. Sometimes you will be the winner, other times you will be the loser. It will always feel to you like you are on the losing end more than you “should” be, but that is because you have a human brain and the accompanying limitations.

This, however, is not a hand where you had to go broke. Instead of focusing on how unlucky you think you are, you should just accept that a huge amount of variance is involved in tournament poker and work to improve the things that are within your control, namely your decision-making ability.

I think I would just call the river raise in this case, it could be a fold since I think only flushes will be raising here, I would decide depending on the villain. But certainly wouldn’t 3bet to call off the 4bet…

Andrew’s reply nailed it. PokerStars is not rigged and it will be more productive for you to focus on trying to understand the decision-making process that leads up to all the money going in preflop, instead of trying to rebel against what happens after that.

Hi hylke1980,

To answer the question in the subject of your post, I think that you did something wrong.  I worry about your mindset after this beat because it seems you’re openly questioning the legitimacy of the site rather than focusing on improving your play.  This is the wrong mindset to have because you are failing to take responsibility for your actions.  I hope after reading all of these responses that you’re able to clearly see that you could have played this hand better.

Best of luck in your future tournaments.

Thank you guys for your replies, i can only say you guys are absolutely right. I was tilted as …. when i started this topic, i had a incredible losing streak. I see now my play needs a lot of improving, that is why i am taking a 30 days break of poker and spend the time improving my game.

The biggest flaw in my play is to know when i am behind, because i remember this hand, it was a button-blinds game, and the button player was very aggressive, his vpip was over 40 and he 3-bet percentage was over 20. So i didn’t believed him, now i know him better, i know he is a 10 times better player then me, so i had to respect his game. The best play was in my eyes to call his raise.
