Hey Fellas,

raised the river for value, with a tough fold in mind if reraised. last 30+ players of a 3600 field tourny.

Do we ever can raise call profitably here on the river.

Keep in mind the deep stack both players hold. The remaining field was quite soft.

opinions plz

thx

first thing i would do in this spot is construct a weighted range of all the types of hands you think villain will call with in this spot, and then see how you do against that range

I'm not sure there is much value in raising the river. V's chunky river bet polarises his range between air and flushes which are often going to be better than yours. So I'm just calling the river bet.

Wow. Is he really check/raising the nuts on this river? He just called the whole way then check/raises a non-threatening river to your hand. I think your play was just fine. I am valuing this river as well. His play is kinda indication of a bad player and I guess he can have a better flush some of the time but I am still calling, same as you did.

Hey hawkeye i think you read the post wrong

Its not a c/r on the river – its a 3/4'ish pot bet lead into us

This guy has taken a weird line with whatever it is he has

He obv doesnt have the nut flush (or he comes back over the top on the river), and it seems a bit big for a blocking bet

So that leaves a bunch of other random flushes (most of which have us beat) and possibly some horribly played 2 pairs maybe. I think the only flush we beat is Th9h?

Goodness knows he might have KQ or something i dunno

Anyway, my first instinct when reading the post was to call and not raise his river bet for some reason

Some history in the form of this villain over-representing weak made hands would be good here and his ability or willingness to bluff also..

Reads are always important but readless I cant see any reason to raise river.

If V has Ax hearts he should really be raising flop, but can see some calling for flush (bad play in my opinion unless AhQh, or KhQh) but still possible.

Also there are str flushs out there, that he could be worried about with your strong line.
