American first time poster. I cannot get Hand History Converter to work on here so my apologies for that. We are deep in the 109$ 25k on Black Chip Poker. We are currently 6/15 with 112,326 at 1750/3500 blinds and 350 ante villain has us covered. There are about 6 guys with under 20 bbs. Not much info on villian as I do not have a HUD and he just moved to the table. This is his first orbit and he has opened 3 hands in all positions and has won without showdown . I am new to sight and am unfamiliar with his SN. I am wondering if I was over aggressive and committed ICM suicide given stack sizes I believe there is merit in flatting pre but am curious to hear thoughts. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Villian Opens UTG+1 7672
Hero (AK off) UTG+2 3 bets 18250
Folds back to villian who 4 bets to 30348
Hero 5 bets all in
Villian Calls flips KK and holds
Thoughts?

Cooler. Bummer.
With no read beyond a few opens (which V is getting away with, so why not keep trying), I think I flat, leaving ~23BB behind, and shove any pair on the flop. With so much in the pot I’d be impressed if AQ checks or check-folds the flop. I doubt AJs or KQs is calling a 5-bet anyway, so we just reduce variance against pairs. I’m sure I have also just shoved here too, getting more out of a flip if I win, but I like the lower-variance call even if it does turn my hand mostly face-up. I guess the down-side is we may only get to see 3-4 cards.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies I really appreciate it. Hind sight always sucks and with his tiny 4 bet size I feel its almost always strong looking back. MovieFX, when you say flat are you talking about flatting his initial raise or flatting when he 4b’s us and leaving ourselves 20b’s behind and folding all flops that don’t contain an A or K? Given stack sizes and tournament dynamics I feel like flatting initial raise can’t be bad.For the record I don’t play 109s often usually stick to 10$-33$ mtts.

I meant flatting the 4-bet, as typed.
Personally, I would only flat an initial raise when guaranteed heads-up against specific opponents where I feel disguising the strength of my hand has more implied value than inflating the pot early on. What I mean is, if I am against a player that is loose pre-flop but deep-thinking and careful post flop when more chips are at risk, then I want to get some chips in right away because I am probably only hoping for 1 street of value and I want that bet to be bigger. If I am up against someone who I can be confidant is capable of playing fast either as a bluff or with a dominated top pair, then I’d rather let them do that (and maybe even consider it pot-control in some cases).
