Cubed/quad tourneys -- early strategy

What's the best strategy for cubed/quad (1R1A/2R1A) tournaments?  I love playing these, because I enjoy deepstacked tourneys (my biggest cash was in a cubed on Stars), but I'm wondering how to handle the rebuy period.  I usually take the rebuys right away and play it like a normal tournament, but others treat it like the rebuy period of a regular rebuy tournament.  What usually ends up happening is I get pushed out of a lot of pots and end up with about 80 percent of my starting stack when the rebuy period is over, unless I pick up a premium or flop a set and stack someone.  Anyone have thoughts on this?  What's the optimal strategy?

Wouldn't mind seeing a video focusing on cubed/quad tourneys.  Laugh

I've always thought that the sites should tell you who has a rebuy left.  There are some people that play their first bullet like a rebuy and gamble it up a lot early.  When you start those tournaments, take notes of who rebuys and who doesn't.  You can then adjust.

That's a great idea.  It would be nice to know who's on their second/third bullet and who hasn't rebought.

Thanks for the reply Wein…

By the way, I've been watching your videos a lot over the past several days (your Sunday Million videos, SCOOP videos, and the SuitedAce hh review), and today I had one of the best days of my brief “career” in the micros.  I didn't final table anything, but I came pretty close.  Barely missed final tabling a $2 1r1a on Stars and a $3 rebuy on FTP (finished 12th/13th in those), cashed for a decent amount in a $5 2r1a on Stars, and even got deep in the miniUBOC main event, which is obviously much higher than I usually play (I sattied into that).

Sorry for the ramble, but my point is that you guys run an awesome site and it's helped me a lot.   Thanks!
