villain was the chipleader and my stack was big too ( was on 5th place before the Hand )
i can fold and wait for better spots! But it is possible too that villain was thinking that i was on a steal attempt.
if i will win this Hand, i would become the chipleader of this tournament with a normal 4 th or 5th place doing just folding!
so i thought if i will loose i win 11 $ but if i win i can win a Minimum of 200$
what would you guys think about this Hand on that situation?
i had no history of this guy!
so i hope i get a Little bit Input of you

This hand all depends on how competent (or incompetent) this player is. If he is a winning reg he can put you in tough spots exactly like this. Obviously this is a sick spot because there is a 5bb stack about to be in the BB and other 10bb shorties.
Run this through some equity calcs with ICM on at different reshoving ranges (10%, 15%, 20%, 30%+) and see how much money you are making in this spot.
We can probably discount premiums a little as most villains will most likely min 3bet QQ+.
What was your image on this table before this hand happened? What stats were u running?

You aren’t going to work through this or most MTT situations just by saying “well if I fold I’ll still have X but if I win then I’ll have Y”. There are more rigorous ways of doing this. You need to practice putting people on ranges, looking at pot odds, and considering your equity relative to the odds you’re getting. If you aren’t sure how to do this, I’d suggest Theory of Poker and/or the Poker Math video on this site.

have you considered just jamming preflop BvB? 17bb may seem like a lot, but it helps us avoid this very predicament when we min-raise. also, min raising allows him possibility of just calling pre and playing IP…playing 88 OOP with a short stack will be very tough.
i would either min/call to induce shoves with Ax and smaller pp's, or jam to avoid this spot. Either way, i dont see how you can find a fold with 88 blind vs blind in most 180 man structures.

Yea i totally agree with darvin BvB i am snap calling 88 here with say 22-66 i am just jaming but 77+ i min snap call for sure ,it definatly looks stealy so he can jam you super wide here expecting a fold. You could also jam 22-88 and induce 99 if you feel unconfident playing the flat oop but any pair bvb is super strong usually.

With a 4bb stack at the table there's a reasonable ICM factor here, so I don't mind just open-shoving even with a strong hand like 88. However, you couldn't pay me to fold 88 here once we open. The BB is just going to be shoving on us so wide (because of the ICM factor) that I don't think we can consider folding.
