Just wanted to know what people think of this strategy I have been using. I
keep an eye on my BB rather then if I will bubble or not. What I did was create
a blind chart in excel where I can look at my stack size and see roughly how
many BB I have compared to the current blind. I use that as strategy to play
ahead three levels. For example I like to keep my stack size  >30, preferable 50 or more. I look
ahead two or three levels and shoot for 30-50 BB of that level.  I have
been able to last longer in MTT and I also notice I do not keep checking the
bubble or chip leaders. I adopted this because I would look at chip leaders and
become intimidated and feel I had to catch-up, even if they were not at my
table. As a result I would play loose and make stupid mistakes. Now, I have a
mini goal within the tournament that keeps me occupied and ahead. I have been
moving up in MTT 500+ people with this. I am just interested in what everyone
thinks or suggestions to improve it. I feel if I can improve how I play some of
my hands I could go deep with this strategy. I am open to criticism but be
gentle.

I like this idea as it’s in a way keeping you from letting yourself blind down.  I don’t think it’s a sin to let your stack get below 30bbs but in general I think you have the right approach.

i think it is pretty important to focus on yourself throughout the tournament.

at the end of the day average stack, chip leader etc etc doesnt mean shit to your chances of winning.

personally i dont really have goals like having this and that many bb at a specific level  –  i dont know how that would make me play better (i am pretty sure for me personally it would make me play worse) but i am not opposed to the idea.

Go with wt works for u. We all have our own approach to the game and this is a way that has worked for u. If ur seeing improved results, by all means stick with it. Me personally i think its all the same. Whether u have a spread sheet that tells u where u should be or look up at the average stacks or the chip leaders, its all pressure filled and if ur not disciplined in ur approach ur gonna make mistakes when u fill like ur behind the curve. I say concentrate on optimizing +ev spots. Get the most value from ur winning hands and lose the minimum from ur losing hands and u will see ur stacks and game improve. Not to downtalk ur strategy but thats just my opinion.
