I wonder if there is any merit in a bet/fold here to get value from his two pairs.
First of all, my bad for not also posting the fact that he checked to me on the river on the hand history, hopefully it went without saying based on the fact that I had position the whole hand, nonetheless I edited it to make things a bit more clear for those who respond to this.
I am trying to learn how to get value from hands that I was not betting in the past so I had the same line of thought about getting value from a pair of aces or two pair type hands. The only problem I had with throwing in a small bet and then folding is that I was having a hard time putting in over half of my stack to just end up folding.
It seems like the masses here are saying to go the conservative route and I did just the opposite, like I said, I am trying to learn how to start value betting hands I otherwise did not used to. I ended up going all in, maybe I am bad, but I felt like he would call with pretty marginal holdings the way the hand was played out. He ended up snap calling and showed down A8.
Do I at least have the right idea to bet this the way the hand was played out, considering the limp call pre should eliminate AK from his range and feel safe betting? Or should I be giving him credit for calling down with KQ or KJ with 3 players in the hand all the way to the turn and for this reason check back the river? Or do I give him credit for being able to play K10 this passively the whole way and actually being able to check K10 to me on the river, and risk me checking back with such a scary board on hands that I may call a bet from him with and miss out on value?
