Hey
readless at the time of this hand, though later in the tourney i picked up that this opponent is loose passive.
It seems like im capping my own range , situations like this , my range looks really weak once i check both flop and turn. When v checks back flop and turn their range seems weak as well. when we get to the river and they bet , the only hand i would be worried about is JT though i still think they'll bet this at least on the turn since there hand has not good showdown value.
I think on hero's half checking flop was okay and so was checking turn, though i just dont like capping my range , but i just dont think there's much else i can do , if i bet flop im only likely to get called by better hands , of course v may float with flush draws which im ahead or a hand like T9s , but these hands have decent equity against me anyway and i think playing my hand as a bluff catcher would be better in a sense.
thoughts on this?

This is a good thing to be thinking about. It’s not the end of the world to cap your range/check-fold enough that V auto-profits by bluffing if he had to pay to get to this point in the hand (which he did by flatting your pre-flop raise). This is a topic I cover towards the end of my Range Construction series. However, I think you should bet the flop. It’s actually kinda similar to the J9s hand you just posted: you may not be in great shape against his calling range but it definitely will include worse, so you aren’t in terrible shape, and there’s a lot of value in getting him to fold overcards and not giving him profitable bluffing opportunities against you.
More broadly, you should definitely think about ways to strengthen your checking range on boards like this. In spots where you’ll be doing a lot of check-folding and check-calling, you should also try to do more check-raising with your strongest hands and with some draws. This reduces the profitability of your opponent’s bluffs. Off the top of my head, low sets, Ks Js, Td 9d, Ts 9s all make good check-raising candidates. I like check-calling QQ, Ad Kd, maybe even AAd.
