125 dollar harrahs tourney. 15 k starting stacks. 20 min levels. this is 4th hand of tournament.

IM in middle position and get dealt 33. Blinds are 50-100. It folds to me, i make it 300, Hi jack calls and button calls.(Pot 1050)

Flop comes 3hJh9s, hijack leads out with 1100, button makes it 2200, i call, Hijack repops to six, button shoves,

me??? In a cash game i probably fold, here in a tourney where i like to accumulate as early as possible, it is tougher.

You will be surprised what people do in these tournaments. From my experience at that buyin, I think if you call more times than not you will be paid off. People will overplay top pair with an ace kicker like crazy and I take advanatage of that when I have a hidden monster.

Yeah with the straight and flush draw possibilities it made me lean towards a call as well, i figured someone is likely to not have a made hand yet. Thanks for the advice. Ill release spoiler once i get a bit more thoughts.

I have just made the transition to more live play so I am curious to see what the more veteran players think as well. I can honestly say $100-$150 live buyin is the same as $5-$10 online, for level of play.

Get it in on the flop and GL imo. $125 buyin a lot of people are just going with their top top/open ended/flush draws/2 pairs here. If they have the better set its a cooler imo. But too many draws to not get this in on the flop.

In a live $125 like this….. I'm getting it all-in as soon as those moh-moh's start betting.  I'll assume you checked the flop and let the HJ bet first making it 1100.  After the button min-raises.  Jam city ………….  Most of those tourneys especially the ones at Harrahs' during the WSOP have a bunch of donks, and a few solid players in it.

I won't say who, but two very good TPE guys won the 7pm nightly tourneys back to back, last tues & weds night.

You fold bottom set on a really dry board but not here – you're just as likely to see 2 pair, combo draws, and overpairs as you are to see set over set.

Yeah, I fist pump ship there because you opened with the hopes of flopping big, and if you run in to set over set, unlucky.  That only happens on the flop about 1% of the time.
