On Youtube there is a hand between Martin Kozlov, Davidi Kitai and for a while Justin Bonomo called ‘Martin Kozlov puts Davidi Kitai in difficult spot at WSOP 2016 Final Table’. They are 5 handed,  Bonomo is the effective stack with 24 bb, Koslov has 88 and Kitai 106.

Bonomo opens Aheart9heart to 2bb (120,00) utg, Kitai calls from sb with KheartQheart and Koslov comes along with Aclub2heart

The flop is 8heart2clubKdiamond and is checked through (pot is 410,000)

Turn: 2spade… Kitai bets 155,00, Koslov raises to 400,000, Bonomo folds and Kitai calls.

River 6diamond (1.2m) Kitai checks to Koslov who bets 1m.

This is probably way above my level but the commentators are discussing which bluffs could be in Koslov’s range and they say “the bluffs are 3s through 7s because they draw to the nuts”. What do they mean?

This is at 7:30 of the video if you want to fast forward to it.

33-77 on the turns give you a draw to a full house. I guess that’s what he means. Based on the board, Kozlov can’t be bluffing with 22 or 88, and 99+ can’t be considered a bluff because it’s better than middle pair? Totally playing devil’s advocate here.

Thanks for posting the video, I should have done that really. Maybe they’re expecting that 99+ would have been 3bet pre so wouldn’t be here anyway. I think what you’re saying makes sense though, that he could have 44 for example and raise here with the plan of bombing any brick on the river and representing a 2 if he misses. You’d have to be a complete sicko to try that in this spot though.

I remember watching this hand LIVE during the stream.  I watched this FT because of the beasts at it.  This was some nextLEVEL poker playing in my mind.

I play in the Main and other big tourneys in the AC/Philly area.  I’m a good REC player and not on a star PRO level, but how that German kid folded in this spot tells me how much I still have to learn in Poker.  I always certainly snap call or think for a minute and call all the time.  How he got away from it is unreal to me.  Just shows how great a player he actually is.

For anyone that doesn’t get to watch the FT streams from the WSOP in Vegas.  This hand with the commentary of Tuck and the boys is why its some of the best stuff poker wise to watch.  just my opinion……….

I have the huge benefit of seeing the hands, so it becomes dumb and difficult to talk about this hand unbiased.

I think leading the turn with top pair puts you in a weird spot. Bonomo checking back could be TT-QQ, suited aces. All pretty weak. I don’t know if he’d check back a King here, but 3 ways I don’t know. Him being short makes it make more sense to do it. If I were in Kitai’s shoes, I don’t know if I could find the fold on the river, but what hands make sense for Koslov to be raising, even as a bluff? He got in there for 1bb and he’s barely capped. KK and the best top pairs are the only hands he can’t have. Kitai’s sb cold calling range is probably suited broadway. I don’t know his game but that’s what most people’s cold calling ranges are in the sb. Most of that has top pair and would check/call the flop. Koslov would know this and the way for him to get money in the pot is to call turn and bet river or raise river. Kitai probably doesn’t bet/call off top pair on the river, so the unlikely trips needs to raise to get value. Pretty awesome that Kitai found a fold.
