Can I make this spot look stronger?

I'll take you through my thought process as I'm making this play and want to know if I could have made this a lot scarier decision for my opponent.  It's a new table and I have no reads.  First off, the intial action is a limp UTG+1 and it folds to my BB.  Because of his limp and his stack/my stack…my plan from the beginning was to make a play at this pot.

Flop – Pretty dry board.  I decide to check and float with the gutter and the intention of leading out on the turn thinking he can be making a CBet here with just about anything.

Turn – I pick up a flush draw with the gutter.  My intention was to lead out, but with a decent draw and a pretty non-scary card I thought I'd check-raise if he double barreled.  If he checked behind I'd fire the river.

I check-shove his double-barrel and I think it made my hand look like a draw.  If I had mini-raised his double-barrel, I think it would have looked a lot stronger.  What do you think?

Also, is my line of thinking appropriate?  Where do you put his range at with a limp UTG+1 and his stack size?  Should I even be making a play at this pot given his 21-22BB stack?

In general I think c/c and c/r can look very strong though your overshove looks more bluffy than a monster. But I think this is a bad spot for you to take this line, OK he only limped pre but  if you really want to represent a hand then I am raising it there and taking control of the pot. The trouble is that this is a 20bb stack and you have a pretty weak hand so I am just c/f the flop as I don't think it's the best spot for us to steal a pot, and when he double barrels I think our FE drops massivIely. I am waiting for a better spot.

Just check/fold the flop. He doesn't have enough behind for you to stack him with if you turn your gutter. Only way you are stacking him is if he limped the top of his range (aa/kk) or flopped a set when you do hit your gutter. You have a workable stack here no need to spew oop.

I check fold here and pretty much agree with what danny says. Not deep enough to speculate here
