This was a local 40 euro live tourney with 30 players. About 12 players left.

Blinds are 4,000/8,000 and i have about 600,000 chips which puts me as chip leader.

Utg goes all in for 90,000 and another player also goes all in for his 80,000 chips. It is folded around to me in the Big Blind and i look down at 55.

I am tempted to call and try and knock two players out and if i lose, I will still have a big stack.

However the nit in me made me fold. I thought i would in bad shape, as in against a higher pair and overcards.

A friend of mine says I should have called as i was getting good pot odds and he would love to knock out one of the players in particular. It is a regular game and we all know each other.

what do ye think guys?

What ranges are you putting these guys on?

I'd guess at 11% shoving range for UTG (though it could be wider or tighter depending upon how he plays), for the second shove lets assume he's calling tighter due to UTG's shove so assign him a 5-6% calling range. If you call with 55 here you are a 25% favourite to win the hand, so 3-1. With 182k in the pot and 82k to call you aren't getting the odds for a call here.

To make the overcall I reckon you'd need JJ+. Yes knocking out 2 players would be great, you'd increase your stack from 75BBs to nearly 100BBs and when you lose you'd still have just over 60BBs but you would also turn one of the short stacks into a 30BB stack at the same time which I think would be a mistake.

Of course if your 5s were suited that would be a different matter laugh
