Villiain only has 12bbs, therefore I think you have to decide now if you're ahead of his range or not. Shove or fold pre IMO.

I would probably lean towards folding. Looks pretty strong raising 3bbs from 12bb stack.

pretty much this – decision has to be made preflop, because there are NO boards you are going to like except when you flop a set or it comes 235 or something like that, and even then you would be worried about an overpair.
i think this is a fold pre

oh wow i didnt even realise i played the hand like this guys

i thought this guy has essentially shoved pre

then i thought if i was going to play i should just shove or fold pre

then this happened lol – i dont recall what i was thinking but my question to come out of this hand is

“if this guy shoved 11bbs pre, do we call with 44?”

44 has like 45% equity against the top 20% of hands. but i highly doubt randoms shove properly so maybe shave off some of the hands. so if we adjust the range to be like 22+, A5s+, A9+, QTs+, KJ+ which is around 16% of the hands….we still have 44% or so. need to call like 64k to win 85k. makes it 42% thereabouts. so its slightly +ev assuming my ranges are somewhat accurate. theoritically, not much difference in equity when you lay 44 up against overcards. for instance, its 51/49 against AKs and 50/50 against Q9s and like 51/49 against 76o.
