Hello!!

Played this yesterday, the BB was calling with a huge range, and floating flop everytime, I folded first two floats OTT, then I started to 2 barrel and V was folding OTT, this time, I was going for a ck/r with second pair and a flush. Thoughts? Or is better to check call? No read for V´s line OTR.

When V check turn, I decided to check call river, never seen this guy betting over half pot actually, when V bet 2/3 I was unsure what his range looks like.

Thoughts?

I don’t mind the river fold, but I don’t see why you wanted to check-raise turn. What advantage does that have over check-calling turn?

Because he was always floating, I assume a check raise will get V thinking if I was doing that as a bluff and to shove on me weaker hands.

Would you be check-raising for value then?

Ignoring future streets, on the turn, I think all A2-AJ are in V’s range and may be checking the turn to pot control. If he might see your check-raise as a bluff with weaker hands then he’ll see it with hands that are a little ahead too.

I like the fold too. AJ, AT, KQ, Q9, JT all make sense to me on the river, especially if suited hearts (AJs might 3-bet PF though). We have a T but if considering all 2-pair hands than Tx hands should have an equal representation, right? I think V checks behind with all single pair hands. I don’t know if the larger than normal sizing is value or bluff (missed hearts), but that Q seems like the second-nut-worst river for our hand after a heart.

1 – Yes, I think V will spazz with worst hands for a check raise ott.

2 – He was floating a lot, and betting OTT when I checked to him before, so I think make sense for V to barrel again. Maybe not if he assume I was going to fold.

Think it’s quite unlikely that check-raise/calling it off for value here is going to be a good idea. I think you’re overestimating how often even the more aggressive opponents are able to spew it off here, and you’re also forgetting that aggressive players sometimes have strong hands. You have diamond draws blocked, so it’s really only heart draws that villain can spew off with, and he might have raised a lot of them on the flop.

I think the river fold is okay. You still have some Ace-x hands in your range to check-call here so you don’t have to worry too much about villain exploiting you, and the Q does give villain a fair number of 2-pair hands and straights. Villain can also obviously still have some pot-controlling Ace-x hands.
