Hi guys

Played twice live now for an amazing two times 🙂 The first one i missed the payout by one place and last night i missed the payout by two places. Both 120 runners and 10 got paid.

12 players remaining in the tournament, 10 get paid. All about average chips, no real leader on our table. All pretty tight.

Last night i had top two pair (Qs Js) on a Qd Jh 2h board. The small stack (7bb) shoved and i insta shoved over the top for about 18bb. The guy to my left tanked for a while and then called with Kh 9h and hit his flush on the river. I knew i was ahead of the short stack and a slight favourate to a flush draw.

Should i have folded here to cash? Waking up this morning i'm thinking yes but that's in hindsight, at the time i was convinced i was ahead.

no way jose, cannot fold there and in fact shoving to give the guy behind you worst odds possible is best also. he doesnt have to call off there and even when he does, you are a favorite (assuming you also have short stack crushed). better luck next time!

You did EXACTLY the right thing.  You were a huge favorite, and you got your money in good.  You just hit a little bad variance is all.  When you got your money in, you were 59% to win and he was 41%.  If you won that pot (which you would do 6 out of 10 times), then you would have had a stack of over 40BB.  This would really put you in as a contender for the final table, and really give yourself a shot at one of the top spots.

You have to play these tournaments to win, not min cash.  The way you make a living playing tournaments is to get in the top 3 spots, and getting your money in like you did that night, gave yourself a real shot to do that.

Well played sir.

Thanks for the post laugh
