Hey guys,
this is William from Germany. To be honest this is my first Post and my english is not the best + i am not a good poker player i would say. But I am looking forward to improve my poker play so I decided to join Tournament Poker Edge and I am already improving a bit.
But to the hand. Today I played the 11$ Progressive Super Knockout on Pokerstars. We are far away from the money but I would really like to know how my play here was.
What would you do? Did I played it right here or totally wrong? I had many thoughts on this hand afterwards so I decided to post it here. To be honest I am not confident about that play at all.
Thanks for your help!!!

Welcome to TPE! Why don’t you share some of your own thoughts on the hand. It will be more useful for us to critique your thought process than just tell you what you should have done in this one spot. What kinds of hands did you think your opponent would bet here? What did you hope to accomplish by going all in?

Ok so obviously I am on the Button and try to steal the blinds. I have 0 reads on SB or BB.
SB calls and BB folds. I think I am in a good shape here because I got position on this player and I think A10o is on the top of my range here since i could also try to steal with nothing out of Position.
The flop comes and I flopped top pair which is good. The SB decides to bet 1200 in the pot. In reaction to that I shoved my whole stack. I have done this because I think I need to protect my hand from flushdraws and things like KJ or K10. Someting like AK/AQ/AJ would have shoved me preflop I think so I am most of the time ahead on the flop.
I hope this gives you a better understanding for my decisions.
Sorry for not telling my thoughts on the first time.

Thanks, and good job. I agree with how you size up the situation: you have an extremely strong hand, one you should be willing, perhaps even eager, to play for stacks. When you have such a strong hand, you should be thinking primarily in terms of how to get your opponent to put more money in with worse, rather than how to make him fold hands that are drawing pretty thin against you. As it happened, you got a fine result, in that he did in fact call you with a hand that was way behind. What makes you think you did anything wrong here?
