I am not sure what area this goes in on the forums, and if this isn't the correct place, please move it for me, but I couldn't find a BRM area on the site just yet (haven't hit everything quite yet).
How do you account for multiple entry tourneys in BRM? So if I am playing in a “protected” zone under BRM and my BR says that I can play $10 MTT's, does this change for multiple entry tourneys? Am I safe to still play under these guidelines and stay within my BR plan but buy in for 4 entries for any event?
I need some advice from a nitty BRM guy/gal as this is the first year I am finally sticking to a plan.
Thanks!
Oh yea…you guys are going to be sick of me in a week cause I have a million of these questions coming 🙁 Sorry…

You want to be able to cover enough buyins in your bankrol, a lot of people use 100-200 buyins for their bankroll, I wouldn't change anything for multi-entry events, count it has a seperate event each buyin. For me, I set break points in my BR. With a roll of $100 or less it is $1 events for me, 200-500 I will do $2-4 events. If I go below a break then I go back to the lower buyins in that break. The object in bankroll management is not the size of the buyin but the number of games. For example: if I have $200 and I play $2 games, I can play 100 but if I loose down to $100, I can still play 100 $1 games by dropping to the lower level. Hope this helps, I sometimes confuse myself. Keep the questions coming, it may not only help you but other members as well.
"Your either in Sheen's Korner or your with the trolls."
Each one counts as an individual $10 tourney as far as BRM goes. However your volume is likely increasing so you'll feel a greater effect from variance. For example during double gtd week I found I was playing 15 tables as opposed to my normal 8. I dropped some of my higher and lower end stuff but at the end of the day my daily spend was higher.
It was too much variance for me. Theoretically it shouldn't make a difference but watching it go down faster (i bricked that week) so I felt a psychological effect.
Since then however I've been using it to advantage. I've dropped almost all tourneys >$75 because I don't think the value is there that I can get from going 4x on the $26 10pm EST. So my overall spend has gone down because there are more value tourneys at the bottom end of my buyin range and i've cut out the higher stuff where my EV wasn't as big.
Wow Ron I can't believe how fast I am getting responses from the pros here!!!! I have been on other training sites and have gone days, weeks, even no response at all before I hear anything from someone. That's one of the main reasons I have been on an island for so long is because I pulled away from the other sites because I couldn't handle response times, or more importantly, gone ignored all together! I really hope that isn't something you all lose as you grow…if not, you will have me for life 🙂
I hadn't thought about the impact variance will have and something I need to pay attention to moving forward.
The one thing I am still trying to wrap my mind around though is how does this affect your chances, odds, not really finding the right words, but if you are buying in for 1 or 2 entries, and others are buying in for 4 entries to the same event, aren't you at a huge disadvantage against these players? Is there some type of terminology here that I may not be using to better explain myself on this subject?

Not really. The only disadvantage is a tiny chance that your stacks merge at some point. one stack with 60k is worth less than 2 stacks with 30k. However, stack merges are going to be rare in large field events.
But if you have 4 shots against someone that has 1 shots you aren't at a disadvantage. They are just playing less tourneys than you. This would only matter if you give up your chance to finish with multiple spots in the final table. Being amongst such big fields this is just very unlikely to happen.

the disadvantage (which has been discussed in another thread) is that if every “good” player at your buyin level buys in for the maximum amount of entries, the chances of you sitting at a table with lots of good players increases because the good players buy in more than the bad ones. so there becomes a greater percentage of good entries to bad ones compared to a standard tourney.
what RFB mentioned about him 4xing the $26 instead of playing a >$75 tourney – this is bad for the people that are +EV in the $26 games, because someone that usually plays higher coming down to play these lower ones is not great for ROI

Yes I apologize…I have only been here for two days and haven't had a chance to read everything on the site just yet. I promise I will make a more concerted effort to do just that this week. I might make the same mistake again, and if so, please feel free to point me in the right direction as I don't want to reinvent the wheel on you all or waste your time answering my questions. I will refrain from asking any more questions on the subject until I had a chance to find this thread and read it.
Thanks 🙂

sorry if it seemed like i was having a go at you, i really wasn’t.
it was also a bit rude of me to say that it was discussed in another thread without posting the link
here is the link, hope you enjoy.
i think the topic of multi entry tourneys was discussed in a podcast as well

Thanks benny for taking the time out to say that…means a lot 🙂 I thought it was a little odd that you accidently put it that way without at least pointing me to the thread….no harm, no foul though 🙂
Thanks for the tip on the podcast…I will surely look for that! I have listened to a couple so far, but haven’t come across that one just yet obviously.
Off to read your link…thanks again!!!
