Hi there,
I’m really interested to see some more knowledgable players give their opinion on this hand. I would see the flat call as either kk+ trying to induce or a weaker pocket pair that doesn’t want to risk their stack. There are more combos of lower pocket pairs and a lot of dead money in the middle so I’d be inclined to get it in. If the BB wakes up with a hand it’s a cooler. I don’t think we really want to be flatting and playing QQ out of position, we risk 18% of our stack and with no read would be considering check folding any K or A high board to UTG5.
Just put this through PT4 equity calculator. Giving the initial raiser a 25% range (22+, A2s+, K8s+, T9s+, A2o+, KJo+), and the flat caller a range of 8% (22+, ATs, AJo) we have 53.70% equity with queens assuming the bb folds. I’ve given the flatter all pocket pairs and the extra aces as I think AQ and AK will get it in, but maybe they like the look of their hand, can’t fold but don’t want to risk their whole stack.
I certainly wouldn’t be loving it, but I’d be going with it unless I had a read on UTG5.

Nice post luthor, welcome to the forums. Your ranges seem reasonable, and the only thing I’d really quibble with is the “wouldn’t be loving it” claim. Having 53% equity in the main pot when you will be getting better than 2:1 on your money is a tremendous edge, certainly something to be excited about. Even if we assume that we’ll be slightly behind in the sidepot if UTG5 calls the shove (can’t imagine him being tighter than JJ+,AK), there’s so much value in the main pot that I consider this a very straight forward shove. And the tighter UTG5 calls our shove, the more fold equity we have, leaving us as a BIG favorite in the main pot with only one opponent to beat at showdown.
Anything other than a shove would be a big mistake IMO.

Nice hand, unlucky on the outcome.
What would be the bottom of your shuv range here ? I think I’d be wary of getting 10’s in here, but we are ahead of UTG5’s range here with 88 according to PT4.
When I said I wouldn’t be loving it, that’s just the cynical git that Pokerstars RNG has made me become 😉

Welcome Kalith and Luthor! Great posts.
Yeah definately shoving TT. One thing about this spot that is very good for Hero is you only have one player to act behind you: the big blind.
If on the other hand, you had a UTG shover, then a UTG+2 caller, and you are in MP with TT, then you have more of a decision. Because you have several more players left to act. They could all wake up with a hand. But here you only have one.
I think I would be shoving here with 99+, AQo+

Good discussion here guys, but as Andrew says, this one is a comfortable shove. When there’s a lot of money in the pot, you don’t need to have that much equity to get it in. There’s a big difference between having good equity and having good EV – you can have very little equity and still have great EV, but it’s virtually impossible for it to be the other way around.
