Hi folks,

This is from the BB109 with about 60 players left so already kind of “deep” in the tourney.

Painted myself into the corner when I just flatted (from the BU) a raise and a caller and then got 3bet by the SB.
I should have 3bet myself here that is clear  (except you have a different opinion). There are not many hands
available in DB for the previous raiser / caller.

Now dealing with the situation I got me in…what would be your play against the 3 bettor?
Also from him not many hands in the DB…on 50 hands he plays 18/14 and has 4.8 3bet.

Many thanks for your feedback
Sven

It’s a 3-bet shove spot to me pre, although because of your position, you can flat, provided you have a plan if someone 3-bets. (And then what if someone 4-bets before it gets back to you?)

As played, I would 4-bet rip V’s squeeze, because in a 109 V could do this with a lot of hands. He still has 31BB if he folds to your shove, and the only hand you’re in trouble against is KK. But a squeeze range is wider than a normal 3-bet one. (You block QQ, AQ, and AK.)

I haven’t considered the tournament format (Bounty Builder) in this analysis and am hoping someone else can talk about what difference that would make. Still can’t believe the WSOP has only 1 bounty event.

I would have 3-bet pre. When you call your range is pretty much be low/middle pairs, suited broadways/connectors and Axs up to AQ from others players perspective (atleast this is the range I would assume someone has without reads or exploitable HUD stats if I was in V’s shoes).
With a 3-bet preflop it will most likely get rid of the blinds so we can play it headsup och 3-handed or take it down pre. Calling induces to a multiway pot with a hand that is much better of vs fewer opponents

As played I think I would have liked to just get it allin considering he is given a very good spot to squeeze when considering ranges. In reality I would probably have folded and been mad that I didn’t squeeze myself. I’m too nitty to make a play here without more information on 3-bettor.

Calling would be the worse play. We force ourselves to need to hit the flop.

I don’t think pre-flop is such a disaster. I certainly wouldn’t just jam 4x pot or whatever the first time it gets to me. I can see calling or 3-betting to 15-20K, though I think I’d fold to a shove if I squeezed, so I really don’t mind the call. Being suited, this hand doesn’t play so badly multi-way.

As played, I think it’s a shove without a read on the 3-better. You have decent equity even vs a strong calling range, you have good blockers, and he has some incentive to be light here. I encourage you to run your equity vs {TT+, AK} and determine how often you need V to fold to make shoving profitable.
