Hi Guys, here some hands were I (bluff)Raise on the flop, with my thinkings;

Hand #1
Poker Stars No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t/t Blinds – 9 players – View hand 2628476
TournamentPokerEdge.com Hand History Converter

Player6 (MP2): t19001 1 BBs – VPIP: 17, PFR: 17, 3B: 11, AF: 5,5, Hands: 109
Player7 (CO): t9810 1 BBs – VPIP: 24, PFR: 3, 3B: 0, AF: 1,5, Hands: 271
Hero (BTN): t41894 1 BBs – VPIP: 24, PFR: 16, 3B: 7, AF: 2,5, Hands: 274392
Player9 (SB): t27096 1 BBs – VPIP: 21, PFR: 18, 3B: 6, AF: 0,0, Hands: 38

Pre Flop: (t0) Hero is BTN with A of diamonds T of diamonds
4 folds, Player6 raises to t1672, 1 fold, Hero calls t1672, 2 folds

Flop: (t3344) 5 of clubs K of clubs Q of diamonds (2 players)
Player6 bets t1974, Hero raises to t4724, Player6 raises to t17254, Hero folds

Here I did bluff raise, I try to get let V fold, all his Ax hands, maybe weak Q`s and any pair or connectors hands, + if I get called, then I have a backdoor nutflush draw, overcard and a gutter to the nuts.

Obv after his shove I fold.

Does my play make sence here?

Next hand (hand 2)

Same table same player serveral hands later

Player7 (CO): t8010 1 BBs – VPIP: 24, PFR: 3, 3B: 0, AF: 1,5, Hands: 271
Hero (BTN): t34698 1 BBs – VPIP: 24, PFR: 16, 3B: 7, AF: 2,5, Hands: 274392
Player9 (SB): t26371 1 BBs – VPIP: 21, PFR: 18, 3B: 6, AF: 0,0, Hands: 38

Pre Flop: (t0) Hero is BTN with 6 of spades 6 of clubs
4 folds, Player6 raises to t1672, 1 fold, Hero calls t1672, 2 folds

Flop: (t3344) Q of spades 4 of hearts Q of hearts (2 players)
Player6 bets t2152, Hero raises to t5008, Player6 folds

Here I think, I raise the flop cause the bord is pretty dry and there is not mutch V could hit and I didn`t V would catch something on the turn and/or River by checking back.

Is this the right play or should I think in order of showdownvalue?

Some thoughts/criticisme is welcome, thanks.

I see two problems with the first flop raise:

1. You don't have much of a value range here. Presumably you 3B KK and QQ preflop. You probably should 3B KQ also, but maybe you don't. Even so, what else do you raise for value here besides KQ and 55? That makes it hard to have much of a bluffing range.

2. Many of the hands you list as targets are hands you're ahead of. That usually indicates you don't have the best hand for bluffing. I'd feel pretty good about calling flop and possibly but not necessarily bluffing on a later street.

I have the same concerns about raising in the second case, which is that you're basically turning a probably-best hand into a bluff. What else would you raise on this flop? You should try to think in terms of how you will play many different hands in your range rather than just what you are trying to accomplish with these two cards.

Hi Foucault thanks alot for your explanation,

just read your article on thinking poker, when to “protect”

1.So if I did understand you well, then in the 66 hand you would flat the V C-bet to try to induce another bluff bet on the turn and/or river from V ?

2. But maybe V folded here all his pairs 77 till 1010(the hands that dominate me) vs my raise in this situation or is this nonsense? even this is only 2.2% of his lets say 24% starting range

3. If I dont raise here in the 66 hand, then almost every turn 7+ card would be a bad card for my hand.

And what if the 4 on that board would be porexample  an 8, so that there is more chance that V make 2 pair on the board and maybe can take the pot away with por example 2 pair(on the board) A or K kicker if it comes to showdown, this would change the situation doesn`t ?

With 66 hand, what is the best to do when V checks to us?

Check behind or bet?
