Early in the tourney… Is my bet sizing too small? Should I be trying to bloat the pot on the turn or keep it small to try and entice action?

I like leading this flop

Its multi way so we can get called up by so many hands, Ax, KQ, QJ, 87s..

and although we could check to hope someone else bets, we run the risk of all of these draws and weak made hands checking it through – therefore keeping the pot stagnant

Another valid way of building the pot on the flop is to c/r but this probably looks the strongest of all and may likely get a lot of these hands to fold

As played i hope you put out a nice sized value bet on the river?smile

I like leading as well for the reasons hape suggested.  I think you can bet big on the river.  I probably even pot it because nobody is folding an Ace here.

I'm leading the flop to start building a pot because someone usually has Ax here and isn't folding, and will sometimes raise you in which case you can snap check the Turn and start working toward getting it all in.

I'd bet about 1/3 pot on the flop and go from there.

as played you have 1464 left on the river into a pot of 972, and it is really hard to try and get your stack in.

however, if you bet 180 on the flop, pot on the turn is now 760 instead of 540. That way you can bet 350, and if villain calls, pot is now 1460 and you have 1200 or so left so you have an easy river shove.

with any sort of nut-type hand like this, especially in a $4 tourney, i am figuring out how to get my stack in by the river every time

I agree with most of the posts so far; 1st off I also like a slightly bigger pre flop raise with 2 limpers, 120-130.

And I def like a lead on the flop in a 4 way pot in the early stages of a tourney; I want to start building the pot right way so that I can bet bigger on the turn and river.  On that flop you can expect that at least 1 of them has a piece or a draw.  I like about a 40% flop bet, 50% turn, 60% river which would probably allow you to shove the river.  As played I like about a 60-70% river bet.  Check raising flop was another option but like hape mentioned that looks stronger and may make someone lay down something they will call you down with if you just lead lead lead.

Thanks for the comments, makes sense… Ive had a few similar hands since and leading the flop had proven beneficial. Just for the record, I did end up getting it in on the river and was disappointed to see the villain roll over AJ…

As always perfect advice.
