Hey guys,

just wanted to know what you think is best on flop. have no reads on villain.

Poker Stars $100+$9 No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t100/t200 Blinds + t20 – 9 players – View hand 2254940

pokerkluka (UTG): BB = 76.3, t15260
Hero (UTG+1): BB = 65.0, t13004
Roma-Tilt (UTG+2): BB = 134.6, t26927
DMS75 (MP1): BB = 45.7, t9141
binhoeiji (MP2): BB = 36.3, t7265
Rolanddiaz (CO): BB = 20.6, t4130
CMoosepower (BTN): BB = 53.2, t10644
foxinfox (SB): BB = 37.9, t7581
flashdisastr (BB): BB = 83.5, t16690

Pre Flop: (t480) Hero is UTG+1 with A of hearts A of clubs
1 fold, Hero raises to t400, 1 fold, DMS75 calls t400, 5 folds

Flop: (t1280) Q of spades 3 of hearts 7 of spades (2 players)
Hero bets t695, DMS75 raises to t2200, Hero ???

guess his most likely holdings are 33,77, and flushdraws plus the occaisonal airballs. therefore i guess shove might be profitable. But is there another more +EV line? what you do?

Flat and shove any non spade turn an option?

what you do on turn with a spade popping up?

cheers

thanks for input

Imo we dont fold AA on this flop anyway. So what are the options?

1) Calling 3bet and fold(?) if spade pops up?

2) Calling 3bet and shove turn, if no spade

3) 4bet shove flop

I think if u watch the options, the best is shove preflop. His 3bet looks like he wont fold anymore on this wet flop

So the best chances with the Bullets, is to get it in on flop. I dont like calling 3bet, and watching, what on turn comes. Would be ugly if spade comes, and than u both checking turn&river and he shows up with AQ/KQ and u missed alot of value.

If he has 33/77, ull be all in anyway on most turncards.

If he has the flush draw, ur favorite on flop and i would take this advantage and shove

What hand are you looking at p1kZor? There is no 3b preflop or on the flop.

I agree with not folding flop because so few combos of hands beat you. Not sure if 3b shoving flop or call/calling is best. We need to construct his raising range first so we can figure out which line is best against it. I wouldn't be cold calling 33 at this stack depth, but some might. If we can eliminate that from his range then we should be very happy about getting raised here. He can be raising AQ and even KQ for value. Flushdraws are definitely in his range, but I doubt anything other than the nut flushdraw gets it in vs a flop 3b. I like calling flop and check calling to allow him to shove the turn with flushdraws because he doesn't get there that often with one card.

I think 33 and 77 are in his range I think (I wouldn't discount them playing 40bb deep). basically on the flop we can:

1. [F] fold vs raise… seems pretty nitty imo here

2. [F] 3b/get it in

3. [F] 3b/get called: [T] jam any non spade turn

4. [F] call the raise [T]x/jam any non spadeturn

5. [F] call the raise [T] Donk any non spadeturn

6. [F] call the raise [T] villain checks back, [R] valuebet any nonspade river

7. [F] call the raise [T] villain checks back, [R] let villain bluf on any non spaderiver

villain seems like he plays a ton of high stakes mtts (propokerlabs),

I'd fold on any spade turn, not much we can beat.

as played: I'd opt for option 4, allow him to bluf or bet his flushdraws on the turn / jam turn. If he checks back, definatly make note of the situation as in the future any flop raise/bet turn will be more value heavy imo.

Hero bets t695, DMS75 raises to t2200, Hero ???

I called that a “3bet”, sorry if u misunderstood me somehow. Not preflop.. Hero cbet flop, and villain “reraised” him(?) Is this better? 🙂

Im still a fan of shoving the flop. With this reraise he shows you something like “I wont fold anymore, I have something I want to play..” Like I've told, I just hate it to call on flop and see a spade on turn. Ur pretty nice favorite on flop (except he holds a set), so why not getting the chips in there?

I cant imagine villain gonna fold after his reraise on flop.

@elorian

Dont make ur decision how to play the hand, just because u searched what kind of player he is. Its ok, if there is a FT decision, because u google ur opponents on last 2 tables or so. But not in mid stage. U wouldnt do it while playing this tourney, so why do it right here?

Just write, what u would have done without knowing the enemy. And AFTERWARDS u could write something like “after looking up the villain, I would prefer……..” 😉

It's still only a flop raise. A reraise comes after a raise. And I look up players whenever I am in a difficult spot so I think we can include that information in our decision.

Sorry for my wrong expression. I ment the “raise” on the flop… I always called it “3bet” or “reraise”, if somebody raised my cbet. 😀

If you are able to look, cool. But most of time (at least I am) playing mid stage, i have 4-8 MTTs running, so there is not much time to google my villains. Rarely im one tabling midstage… Thats why I thought its better to exclude that..

I do search players while in game (am 10-12 tabling mostly), I have a spare screen where I can easily search the lobby / pro poker labs / ICMizer etc.

If I play an unknown I do like to try to get some additional info when I face difficult situation to guess if someone is expected to be capable to be light in some situations etc
