i was taking a look at this hand and i was wondering if it would be better to bet turn/river to get v to fold better hands like JJ-AA or would it be better to check it down since we do have showdown value against 55/66/88/AK/AQ/AJ. If for instance we had a hand like A3s, i'm not saying a call with A3s would be correct on the flop , but lets just we did get there with that  hand , i would say that A3s would be a better candiate for betting turn as a bluff since A3 would be really at the bottom of our range and we wouldnt have much showdown value with A3 anyway. Another reason why i like betting with A3 is that we are likely to get v to fold better hands in their range which are rather marginal like 55/66/88. Betting 9s does not really accomplish much , if we bomb turn and river they may fold but i think taking a showdown with it would probably be the best option.
all thoughts would be apperciated!
cheers.

I guess only worse hands fold if you bet. He probably doesn't have anything, but maybe he bets the river because you check behind on the turn? My instinct is to bet the turn to take the pot down, but I think checking behind makes more sense.

if we bet turn that would be rather thin right? if we did and hero does get called , i’m assuming hero is checking back river.

If we want to bet the turn, I think it is for value/protection. We can get called by 88, some 7s, maybe 66, spades, and 98 (and maybe overs). I think betting with the intention of folding out overpairs would be very bad. If you really wanted to bluff, it would be much better to choose hands like 98 or Axcc rather than our specific hand which has lots of showdown value and very little chance to improve if called by better.

I like betting pretty small here (just under half pot?), it keeps your range uncapped (could also make this bet with a T), gives draws an incorrect price to call, and gets value from 88 and 7s.

@botswan,  i like the idea of betting small as we're trying to get value from weak hands in villians range , i'd say just below half pot is OK yeah.
