Hi!

Just curious what you guys think is the best way to build a roll with $200.  I'm playing mostly $2 180 SNGs, but if you think/know of better or softer tournamenst to play in, I would love to hear it.

If you have the time play the Daily Dollar on FTP, first is $1600 due to the guarantee.

That is a good question, something I am interested as well. The past few months I have just been making small deposits but want to deposit about $200 in both FT and PS.  I have played in the “Daily Dollar” a few times but you have to deal with a lot of coin flipping donks until the blinds are high.

Hi,

I took 3rd in the daily dollar for $600 and it took about 9/10 hours to play down to the final 3 so I would make sure you have half a day just incase you get to the final table 🙂

I would grind the mtt sngs just like your doing but I would like to hear what the pros have to say. I would prob watch PANDAS bank roll building videos and emulate what he did but at a lower buyin level.

Good luck 🙂

appreciate the input guys!

I heard Jonathan Little is doing some vids, trying to grind up a $300 BR in cash games playing NL .05/.10.  I think it would be interesting to see a pro do something similar in  micro tournments.

Not calling out the pros here, but if somebody has the time, energy, patience, etc., to do that it would be cool to see.

I think with a BR of $200 your best bet is 18 and 45 man SNGs because you can grind up relatively fast whereas with MTTs you have to go to the huge fields before you can win any substantial money for $1 or $2 buyins.

Thanks RFB.  I have played some 18 man sngs with some success, but decided to try the 180s after seeing that there is plenty of material available on them.  I will try some 45 man sngs as well and  see how they go.  I did take a 180 down earlier this week to pad the BR a little bit (sick brag, I know)… but I am looking to do some responsible BRM, where before I would deposit $50 and take my chances on a couple $5 and $10 STTsConfused

Thanks again for the feedback everybody!

well now that you are padded i think the sunday million is your best bet.  That or the $3.25 45 mans, they run a lot and pay 7/45 which decreases variance, allowing you to build your roll a little steadier.

actually, sorry for double posting, but i actually think this is good advice.  You should grind the MTT sngs like people have suggested, but you shouldn't throw the micro mtt's to the curb.  Lots of people, myself included, play the turbo mtt sngs on weekdays and add in a few tourneys on weekends.  Id say every 3rd or 4th session you should make it a micro tourney session.  Apparently the $1 turbo rebuy is supersoft.  MI_turtle said he won it 5 out of the 13 times he played it (has 4,500+ people) when he had a pretty large tlb bet going with some person on 2+2.  I'm not 100% that this is true, but I doubt it so far from the truth to not say this is a tourney worth playing.

and it was a lie, he FT’d it 5 times that month and won it once, still not bad though so I would suggest it.

yeah J makes a good point.  I wouldn't completely trash the micro MTTs because winning one of them would boost your roll tremendously but i wouldn't solely rely on them.  With the sng mtts being so soft you can steadily increase and while doing that hopefully bink a big one.

I'd stick with the $2 180's and also play the $1 rebuy turbo like J said. I've only played it 5 times but I have a 4th place and 2 other cashes and I wouldn't say I'm that good of a player.

Screw 2p2, it's crawling with assholes with no “IRL” social skills who get off on typing mean words to people.  cry

I'd suggest mass-multitabling $1.75 turbo 18-mans, playing ABC early, push/fold late.  They start every two minutes or less, and the players aren't the greatest.

A few times, I've used them to blow off steam when I'm pissed off because an MTT session ended badly…I load up as many of them as I can possibly handle.  I've found them to be profitable, and that's how I would be grinding my bankroll if I could resist the urge to just play MTTs and $4 180s every night.  But I play to bink (relatively speaking…winning $216 still qualifies as a bink to me smile).

i suggest all small bankrolls to be put on AP/ub its a softer site and if you want to play tourneys rather than sitngos the fields stay relatively small and dont consume as much time as stars and tilt

Agree with ttwist here. That's why I moved back to UB. WAY smaller field sizes and it does not take 10 hours to win an MTT on UB.

I would play the 50cent rebuy on Ub. I think 200 is good enough to grind that game out and make some good money.

Not sure what the others think, but I was told to be aware of the % of rake on mtt sng's. Anything more than 10% is a supposed “rip off”. So as far as the micros go I think I was recommended the $3.30 45 man trbos on stars, I could be wrong on the buy-in there, anyway, like to hear what others have to say about this, and I hope that 200 turns into 30k for ya 🙂

Wow, this post deserves some bumpage… read this a few days ago and decided to reactivate my AP account  which had been used once about 2 years ago. Took a couple of days to get a new username (post CEREUS) but finally got it tonight, deposited $50 and took down the $10  $1.5k GTD 6 max for $488.  Definitely a good site bankroll building. (or maybe it was new a/c rungoods ;0)

If I could just start winning 180's and 45's again all would be well

edit: and i bumped the wrong post, but you know what i mean

I would also take the time to watch some of the micro MTTs and see what the average number of runners are in some, smaller field MTTs can be a solid investment as well. FT has some nice ones.

LPG has it right…I would like to add UB as well. Ppl on UB for some reason do not understand shoving ranges based on ICM, so BIG ADVANTAGE!
