I want to start off by saying that I absolutely love this training site! I have bounced between cash and MTT’s and I have always loved playing MTT’s so much better, so I have decided to put in the time necessary to improve my game. I wanted to ask a question concerning Bankroll Management. I know that most recommend 100BI for the level of MTT that you are playing for variance sake, but can that amount be combined across all the sites that you play on or does it need to be site specific? Thanks for all the great insight you guys put out!!!

Hi jpurcell43

I am by no means an expert on the topic but I would say your bankroll is your total pot of money allocated for poker regardless of where it is (another poker site, in the bank, under the mattress etc.).  So if you have 25 BI on 4 different poker sites, I would still regard this as a bankroll of 100 BI’s.

I think it can be spread out among various sites, as long as you have the ability to move money among sites when needed. I’m also a proponent of a more conservative bankroll management strategy. 200 BI and maybe even 300. This really depends on your willingness to reload though.

Good luck and welcome!

It can be spread out…the game is the same regardless of where you play, though ofc if you find a super soft site you’ll need a smaller bankroll, and a larger one for a tough site.

OK so I had kind of what I can only describe as whatever the opposite of a Eureka!moment was today in the bath. It suddenly struck me that what I wrote above can only be almost completely and utterly meaningless, or illogical, or everything altogether.

My brain hasn’t quite settled down from the shock yet, but I think my revised thought process must be something along the lines of…

If you find a soft site, put all your roll on to it, and play there exclusively. And you’ll need a smaller roll than you might elsewhere.

As I sit here thinking about it now though maybe my first post has some merit. I guess folk play on different sites because they can’t get enough action on one? I only ever played on Stars or FTP. If you find a softer site that gives you enough action, why would people play elsewhere at all?
