Hi everyone,

a couple of months ago I started building my bankroll with almost entirely 45man turbo sngs.
I dont have strict grinding routine as I am in my last year at the university, so I play
every other day 20-30 sngs in the evening (CET).

Recently a friend of mine looked at my stats and said to me I should stop playing and work on
my game because my ROI is – and I quote “way too low for the micro stakes”.

My ROI basically swings between 13 and 23 percent and he said I should have a ROI of 30 to 40 at the stakes.

While I also thought that its maybe a bit low, 30 to 40 would mean I do a lot of stuff wrong or not !?

So my question is: Is that 30-40% ROI statement true ? Should I even pay attention to this at this stage?

The only adjustment I did some time ago, was that I almost stopped entirely playing MTTs on the side, because
they cut in my winrate so much.

This is my graph so far:

The first ~1000 Games are 50cents, everything beyond is $1.50 (all on pokerstars)

Due to my low volume the break-even streaks and downswings can sometimes go
on for weeks which was/is pretty grueling. A higher ROI would mean I have less of those so
I kinda dont know what to do 😐

I doubt you can maintain a roi of 30-40% in the 45man Turbo SNGs on pokerstars and think your ROI is quite reasonable. I am sure there are spots you can improve upon and would focus on your decision making.

What games do you want to be playing in the future with a decent bankroll?

ehm just one more thing.. its not completely off topic but what kind of

variance should I expect in these games ?

Since 3 weeks I get slaughtered every day.. currently i am down 110 buyins ($1.50's) over my last ~400 sngs O_o.

Its just ridiculous what happens at the tables.. and every day I go like “well today is a new day lets do thi… oh well f*** me ..not again -_-“

If you want to move into playing MTTs you should be at least playing some similar structured tournaments such as the 180 regular speed SNGs or micro MTTs so you can get a feel for those types of structures. They are much different than turbo SNGs.

You can use the following link to find your variance: …..alculator/
