its preanti, and 18bb is damn near half your stack. actually 4.5 short of it. I'll say this, its all dependant on how much you want to gamble. To me its way too early in the tourney to be calling 18bb shovesl. Also, by seeing how this guy is acting. I would definitely have my decision made before i make the raise tho. Ahead of his range yea probably. Is it worth it.?  getting what 1.1 1.2 to1 on your money? Not imo. I'll hold on to my chips

if you think he is shoving really wide then calling here is fine, chip up

I'd say call given his recent open shoving, he could be doing this with worse suited aces or mid pocket pairs..  Usually though when I make this call it's the time the guy is shoving with Aces. surprised

I think you have to have more equity to make this call in this particular spot.  You have 45bbs and are calling to win ~20bbs.  The tournament has a good blind structure and there are no antes…meaning less dead money in the pot.  Even if he is shoving fairly wide…it's not going to change your equity a whole lot with AJ.  You are probably ahead of his range right here and it's a tough and frustrating lay down, but I think you can find a better spot with better equity and preserve your chips.

exactly…we've only got 300 in. its just not the right gambling spot..seems like even if the equity is slight, it doesnt warrant the possible loss of almost half the stack, w/o the extra dead money, no lmpers, etc…it's just not juicy enough to take the gamble at this stage.

Its funny how something that seems like an okay call becomes like a what was i thinking call after you get a few opinions and ideas as to why its not a good call. Haha. I try to tell myself to think of moves before i make them, but didnt have a plan here. when he shoved i was surprised (which was almost obv) Anyway he had 99. I did call, lost and from there it seemed i went on a little tilt and was out not too long after that. Thanks for the responses.
