It's a shove or a fold, never a 2.2x raise.  You're just not deep enough to open and then fold to someone shoving over you or play post flop where you miss most of the time.

So question is, shove or fold?

Let's start by defining calling ranges.  Which hands do you think your opponents call you with?  Obviously the more people fold after you the lighter the remaining players will call (for example the BB may call with AJ but the guy direct to your left probably won't) but let's just assign one range then we can take the question from there.

This is either shove or fold in my opinion. In this position with larger stacks yet to act personally I fold here. You still have enough chips to wait a round or two for something better….. A,10 off isn't enough to risk blowing my tourney on at this point.

for the people saying fold, why?

i ask because this is definitely an unexploitably +cEV shove, albeit the worst off-suit Ax that is.

Hag, I was going to go through the math once we got some ranges but my hunch was that AJo was the lowest +cEV shove.  I'm not surprised that ATo is also +cEV but given the fact that we bust if wrong here I'm inclined to just let it go.  fwiw I've been shoving it up till the last few weeks but have tightened up my shove range to discard ATo in spots like this to reduce variance.

My thought would be to think about what my image might be at the time.  Also how loose a call might we get.  Think i'd fold here. I'd probably shove from the cut off.

With 16 bigs at an aggro table I probably pitch it and look for a re-shove spot instead.

definitely dont rasie fold yourself to under 20 bigs ever or raise fold when your already there. i put some thought into this and its so damn close that  the table being 8 handed swayed me into shoving the stacks behind you have to have a hand to call. this hand is in my shove range

Sorry I misread the hand, this is a +EV shove 🙂
