Hi again. I'm posting a lot of hands I'm playing badly so I can get better so here's another one.

First of all I'm certain I should have folded this to his 4b pre and maybe at worst shoved, but here goes anyway:

6 off the $.  Villain 21/21 over only 19 hands and had been pretty active and he seems to be a thinking player.  I'm getting 3-1 to flat pre so at the time thought I'd take the flop IP leaving 20bb's behind.  In my mind, he may fold AK to a shove on the board (though I think he 3b shoves this pre) or he has KK-AA.  I can't just flat his CB with just over 20 bbs so I'm obv shoving the flop once I get this far.

Just when I called his 4b pre I knew I should have folded or maybe shoved, but I think the hand played itself with that flop?

Ty again for the feedback in advance.

AQs IP I dont mind 3betting or smouth calling preflop. The difference is that once we 3b pre and get 4betted I wouldnt raise that flop, assuming that his 4b range is a lot more stronger and a Q is not a live out, and half the times neither the A. Also if he has AK as you said I'm pretty sure that you can steal the pot at the turn even if we dont hit our draw.

very much disagree with this. if we are flatting the 4bet it is pretty much a dream flop for us. we dont really have fold equity anymore but we dont really have an option anymore. we still have 12 outs most of the time and at worst 9 outs, i think this is a standard shove on the flop. we arent deep enough to get any sort of fold on the turn and still still likely have to get it in even if our draw hasnt come in yet. definitely like the flop shove. well played.

as for the 3bet pre, i am doing it less and less with a hand like AQ with these stack sizes these days, purely because it is an awkward stack size to get in preflop and be ahead, and it is also awkward when they flat.

with 30+ i definitely flat AQ a lot more these days. i would 3bet all aces At and down as a semibluff though probably. at least some of the time anyway

Flat is usually the standard play with these stack sizes and his opening position.

I'm flatting here.. 3 betting then will almost commit you to calling any shove. Even though you could be ahead of some of these Yankers shoving range.. Still high variance and I try to stay away from that area.

I prefer a flat pre here as well with no history with our villian.  That said, if he's competant and can open light from all positions then 3betting can't be bad.  Once I 3bet, it's always to call his 4bet jam or 5bet jam myself.  Flatting a 4bet with no manueverability is going to make your life hell when you don't hit the flop, and 3bet/folding is terrible because you turn AQs into a bluff.

Just remember that you always have to have a plan for what you are going to do.  If you don't want to get 33bb in pre, then I would advise against 3betting and just flat instead.  If you have been active and have history with the villian, AQs is the nuts and I would be 3/5'ing for value.

As played, I agree with what bennymacca said. Get it in on the flop as we have the NFD and a bunch of equity vs. even the top of his range.

are you raising pre for value or as a bluff?

what is it going to accomplish when you 3bet here? is he the type to call with AT / AJ or are you simply making him fold these types of hands and keeping him in with a range of TT+ AK?

I think he has to have KK a lot here given the line. dream flop tho obv get it in as played.

Flatting pre has to be a good option because thats how you keep his worse Ax raising hands in his range that you can rake massive pots off of postflop. esp in postion.
